5 versions of ResMed AirCurve 10....what's the differences?
I see 4 versions and I am not really sure what the differences are between them. Can someone help me and explain the differences to a noob? I have really tried to find and understand, but nothing seems to gel in my brain....

1) AirCurve 10 S
2) AirCurve 10 VAuto
3) AirCurve 10 ST
4) AirCurve 10 ST-A
5)  AirCurve 10 ASV

Thanks

S: basic BiLevel, no auto, no backup.
T: as above but has a backup rate
ST: both of the above
VAuto: Same as "S" but Auto
ASV: maintain minute vent in real time. Targets basic CA and OSA
IVAPS: (ST-A): maximizes aveolar volume based on minute Vent. Targets specific respiratory diseases and neuromuscular disease.

That's the short answer.

This helps, but I still am foggy on a few things.
What's:
1) Auto
2) Backup
3) Is ASV only for people that have CA and OSA?
4) Don't most people here have OSA? If so wouldn't most people need ASV?
5) after 5 google searches I cant seem to find what CA means. What is it?

Thanks

I can’t give good definitions for most you asked about but I can give a little info.

Auto - you have a setting for min pressure and max pressure. In a bipap the pressure does not change in an auto the min will increase with the need you have to stop the event. And in auto it will go to the max but it may never get to the max pressure.

And CA is a clear airway where is is no blockage but your body just does not inhale. Also known as a central

My ASV  is used for complex sleep apnea which is a mixture of central events and obstructive events. When I was tested with CPAP and BiPAP in my sleep study, things did not go very well with increased centrals and desaturations. Bad enough that they aborted the study. The machines are very expensive and only used in these special cases.
