AHI Discrepancy w/ AirSense 10 AS and WatchPat Sleep Study
Salutations! I'm a longtime lurker on the forums and its wealth of knowledge has kept me smooth sailing for the better part of four years.

In the last six months, however, I've experienced pervasively worsening fatigue, transient "brain fog", and generally diminished recollection. Which is in stark contrast to my machine which reports a typical AHI hovering around 1 +/- .5. I've tried about everything I can to improve the quality of my sleep but something is persistently off.

Reviewing OSCAR data pointed me in the direction of a cervical collar which has improved my issues with flow rates. I've also tried variations on pressure (typically 8/9 to 20) but haven't encountered much good fortune. My ENT insists that a pressure range of 7-20 EPR 3 is optimal for my initial diagnosis (mild apnea; approximately 7 AHI).

After exhausting most other avenues I could think of, I requested an at home sleep study (whilst using my APAP) to ascertain whether or not my O2 was slipping. In the intervening weeks waiting for my results, I acquired a Wellue 02 ring and discovered my oxygen levels are relatively stable. They typically hover around 96 and occasionally dip a bit lower (93ish).

Come yesterday, I got the results of my sleep study which were entirely consistent with the oximeter's reporting. What flummoxes me is that the sleep study unit (a WatchPat) reported 40+ AHI. This is in relatively enormous contrast to my machine which indicated a .64. My doc settled on the conclusion that the WatchPat's readings were an artifact of its interaction with the APAP unit. As my 02 levels were solid that night, there isn't much argument I can offer.

I'm at a total loss at how to further evaluate my OSCAR data and would humbly request those of greater enlightenment on the matter help me figure out what I've missed. I've included my OSCAR data for that night and the relevant pages of the sleep study.

Your oxygen looks great all night. I don't see the drops they are talking about. There is a weird artifact at the very front - I wonder if it made the 3% baseline wonky. I see 2-3 brief oxygen drops to a very normal level; working backwards from your .64 in Oscar you could guess 5-6... (.64 x the amount of time you slept), so I would say Oscar and the 02 graph is correct, but not the calculations. I think your doctor is likely correct.

Did you know you can integrate your O2Ring data into Oscar also?

You had a lot of pulse spikes which could contribute to feeling less rested, but they too could be artifacts.

Thank you for the feedback; thought I was going crazy. I think I need to look into the pulse spikes. I've also tried linking my Wellue ring with OSCAR but I routinely forget.

How do you currently read your data from the ring? Probably on a phone? Did you sign up for their online account? If so, it's pretty easy to download from online and then import into Oscar. I can help lead you through it. I don't think the online account is covered in the wiki page on the device because it's relatively new.

My apologies in the delay with my response. I've been using it on my phone via the app. I haven't had any luck importing it into Oscar so far.

You should be aware that the AHI measured by the Airsense is based on measurements of actual airflow, on the contrary, the AHI reported by the WatchPat is based on the capillary flow of blood in your wrist. Under optimal conditions, the WarchPat manufacturer claims satisfactory correlation. When in doubt, airflow measurement should be relied upon.

I'm assuming by the app, you mean ViHealth. When you run the app, it prompts you create an account, basically a username and a password, to back up your data to the cloud.

Presumably you run Oscar on a desktop or laptop. you would install the desktop software called O2 Insight pro.

if you created an account above in vihealth then use O2 insight pro to download from the cloud. It looks like an arrow pointing down and says online backup. You have to log in.

If you didn't create an account in the phone app, then I think you have to transfer with the cable. You transfer data on the device directly into O2 insight pro with the charging cable. You can transfer past data from your phone by connecting the phone to a computer and copying over certain files. I believe there is a wiki on how to do that.
