ASV Machine
RE: ASV Machine
I know Dave has been helping you a lot, I've been observing, but again, it looks like the leaks are the issue to be addressed first and you are on the right track.  Good luck on the new mask, I'm still trying to find the perfect one myself but not from leaks, but pressure points.  Oh, and don't sweat it out with trying to get an AHI of zero.

RE: ASV Machine
Thanks, Hojo.  I am beginning to think that a mask that meets the standard does not exist!  Frankly I don't care!  I have some hopes for the Simplus, but I am more interested in comfort than in leaks.  SR taught me about leaks and basically told me that the ResMed test wasn't important.  I am currently using a 20 with foam and a ResMed Gecko but that one works but is uncomfortable.  Tonight I'll lose the Gecko and gain a small nose bandage.

Hi Larry,

I agree with you on the mask, that is get one you feel is comfortable then deal with leaks. If your leak results are similar to the last report, IMO you'll be OK. Large leak percentage was pretty low, that's why I'm thinking you'll be fine.

Keep us updated on the new mask.

Happy weekend.

Always welcome, Larry.

This is meant as a compliment: you sorta remind me of a friend from the Church I go to. He's about 81 now and still drives for a living. Now it's car transfers for a local Chevy dealer. He used to drive for CF a union trucking company, then it was a local truck driving job running a flat-bed pipe truck. He has retired two times only to get another job, as actually retiring and not working would probably kill him. There's a few things that he does that he obsesses over, and that's what reminds me about you compared to him. This is in no way an insult or put-down. I'm actually thinking it could be a common trait of folks like you that grew up in the time period you did. Again, nothing wrong with this at all. However you do it, keep pushing for the victory over your apnea therapy, and sincere best wishes it falls fully into place, which I think will happen very soon.

Thanks, Dave!  Well, it could happen today!  I'm supposed to get the Simplus mask today.  I'm not looking for a string of AHI 0's, just some low AHI's and a decent mask.  I think I have the AHI's down, now I have to find a mask.  Unfortunately that is tough.

Agree whole-heartedly. The mask is the hardest area to get right. Mask brand, model, size, format ( full face, pillows, nasal). Many choices to decide on. Mask fit, how tight, loose, positioning. Again lots of options, choices. Machines, relatively few choices. ResMed, Respironics, etc. CPAP, BPAP, ASV, ST. Pressure settings are within a relatively small range as well.

PS last night's chart still looks good. It all comes down to your personal comfort on the mask and how you feel upon waking up. I don't think they have a chart to see the results on that.

RE: ASV Machine
I have part of the mask done.  It HAS to be a full face mask.  I've tried a bunch and some work but they are not comfortable.  Some, like the Mirage Quattro are comfortable but they don't work!  Why?  I have no idea.  Hopefully this Simplus will be the one.  We'll see.  Thanks for your help and encouragement1
