RE: Resmed ASV
Typically after 5 years or about 20-25K hours usage is when you'll want to replace. Here in the US the insurance will pay for another device after 5 yrs.

Do you know the age and hours of the ASV? "RUN HOURS" will be in the clinical menu found by pushing both Home and clicking Dial in at the same time for 5 seconds, applicable for ResMed 10 series. In clinical menu, the hours should be all the way at the bottom, possibly in the "ABOUT" area.

RE: Resmed ASV
The Resmed Aircurve 11 ASV has recently been released, however I don't know if the Pacewave series has been updated yet. All Resmed start displaying the "motor life exceeded" message at about 22,000 hours. This is not fatal, and the device can continue to operate for much longer, but it is a message it's time to start looking for a new one. The old machine can be refurbished with a new motor and the hours reset, or if you don't mind the message, just change the motor. The Resmed Airsense and Aircurve 10 motors are all the same, including for the ASV, so renewal is pretty easy, and costs about $100 for the motor from Aliexpress or a little more on Amazon. An authorized repair facility in the U.S. Supplier #28, charges $220 plus shipping for a motor swap and hours reset, and for under $300 a complete cleaning and replacement of seals and calibration of flow.
