Apnea Acronyms?
Every activity or hobby has its own lingo. Is there an already running thread or link here that helps us noobs understand the jargon? If not, can we start one here?

RE: Apnea Acronyms ...?
AHI = Apnea/Hypopnea Index
CA or CSA = Central (Sleep) Apnea OA or OSA = Obstructive (Sleep) Apnea For more information, see the wiki at http://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.php...efinitions I don't recognize HA. It may have something to do with hypopnea, but that's just a guess. EPR is a feature of ResMed machines, similar to A-Flex or C-Flex on a Philips Respironics machine. From the clinician's manual for the AirSense 10 AutoSet: Expiratory Pressure Relief Designed to make therapy more comfortable, Expiratory Pressure Relief (EPR) maintains optimal treatment for the patient during inhalation and reduces the delivered mask pressure during exhalation. EPR On—EPR is enabled. Off—EPR is disabled. The following settings are only available if EPR is On: EPR Type Full Time—If set to Full Time, EPR is enabled for the whole therapy session. Ramp Only—If set to Ramp Only, EPR is only enabled during ramp time. EPR Level 1, 2, 3 cm H2O When EPR is enabled, the delivered pressure will not drop below a minimum pressure of 4 cm H2O, regardless of the settings.

RE: Apnea Acronyms ...?
I guess we can add more, but once I was directed to the correct location link I figured that info would cover it.

RE: Apnea Acronyms ...?
Galactus, sorry to leave you hanging like that... I guess I was overwhelmed by all the acronyms and sorta left it alone until dedicated more time to this CPAP stuff. I am now referring back to this thread for more advanced learning. Amazing how when one has stakes in the game that stuff becomes more meaningful. Plus, going through these motions is a good mental exercise to learn the stuff.
APAP - Automatic Positive Airway Pessure (a fellow member mentioned something about this on my charts... need to understand and learn more about this one.) BIPAP - Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure RERA - Respiratory Effort-Related Arousals (this showed up on one of my charts... need to understand this more.) ASV - Adaptive Servo-Ventilation In reading more topics I am leaning news ones that are not covered in the compiled acronym page- here are some new ones I am learning: UARS - Upper airway resistance syndrome |
