Autoset doesn’t seem to help

Autoset doesn’t seem to help
I’ve been on CPAP for seven years. I have always had a Autoset type of machine but have never really used that function.
I started at an 11 pressure setting but after the first month they lowered it to 6. My AHI is seldom higher than 2 — usually less than 1. Several times I have tried  switching to auto mode but the results are never as good as with a single pressure setting.
No big deal. I just wonder if auto mode isn’t necessarily the best option for some users.
Anyone else have similar experience?

RE: Autoset doesn’t seem to help
some people we do lead to a CPAP mode because it gives them the best results. We never know until we are adjusting their settings. It could be that your Auto settings were never optimized for you. specifically running auto 4-20 almost always leads to failure.

Post your OSCAR charts if you would like to explore.

RE: Autoset doesn’t seem to help
If you are running straight CPAP at 6 and your AHI is usually under 1, and you feel good, you don’t need to be in Auto. Your pressure is just too low. If your pressure was over 10, straight CPAP can be difficult and APAP is usually a great option.

That said, it is always best to get an APAP machine because it can be run either way, and you just don’t know what tomorrow might bring.

In addition to the comments above: On my VAutoI use EPAP max = min, plus fixed PS, because pressure changes wake me up and my obstructive events are well controlled with these unvarying settings. For the same reason, I don't use ramp.
