New here! hello all! help with cpap!
Hello everyone! its nice to finally be here! I started my cpap journey 2 months ago and so far it has been fairly well overall!

i am looking for some help from the fine people on this forum. i love to wear my cpap machine, but at night i will take my mask off in my sleep unconsciously! i will wake up and it has been on the floor blowing air for almost 2 hours and i dont even realize it! i will be posting my oscar data in hopes that i can get some answers as to why this is happening!

i currenly own 2 masks, the F40 and the F&P Simplus. the Simplus tends to leak quite a bit, which can be seen in my oscar data, but i feel like i keep it on better than i do the F40!

thank you to anyone who takes the time to look at my data and help me, you are such a kind soul and you are greatly appreciated!

RE: New here! hello all! help with cpap!
Welcome

I'm sure you realize your leaks are way too high.  Most folks think that when there are leaks they should tighten the mask.  That is not always the case.  The mask should just sit gently on your face.  Then when the air goes in the mask fills up and moves closer to your skin, making a good seal.  If you have been tightening and still leaking, try loosening a bit.  Time will tell if that works for you.

Your start pressure is too low.  Your median pressure is 8.6, and that is what your starting pressure should be.  This will also allow your EPR to work properly, and your breathing will be more comfortable.

As for pulling your mask off unknowingly, this has happened to lots of people.  Some have found that if they put tape on the sides of the mask so that it sticks to their face, then when they start to pull it alerts to them stop.  People say it doesn't take long before they no longer need the tape.

Again, welcome, and good luck with your new therapy!  Smile
