Best sleep team in Metro Detroit / Ann Arbor area - complex
Hello all. Looking for advise on respected sleep program in the Detroit metro / Ann Arbor area.

Affiliation no matter as I have good insurance and don't mind a bit going off net to get a detailed eval for complex situations.

I self diagnosed about 5 years ago and at the time wanted to avoid 'formalizing' things.

Thanks to all the great info here I've gotten on great with my S9 auto and nasal mask.

I turned 49 and had a heart attack with 6 stents recently where stress with echo  14 mo prior had shown no blockage. I've had to turn down the pressures post-op.

I figure it's time to get a solid sleep doc or dept that can help chase down other issues with phases of sleep, brainwave, ekg, etc.

Bottom line I can find and set pressure that has been very effective for 5 years. I want someone that's prepared to go deeper as I've seen firsthand how much that improvements in sleep quality can impact quality of life.

Thought about UMich maybe? Any other recommendations?

Thanks so much for all of the wonderful dialog here!

Sleep apnea is a risk factor for strokes and heart attacks, that doesnt mean that if you are treated adequately for it you will never get a heart attack or stroke in your life. Since you were already treating yourself and still had an Infarct there are probably other issues at play. What was your issue? What was the blockage? What changed in those 14 months prior to the attack? Are you taking Calcium supplements?

I have not used UofM for sleep issues but they have the rep of being good overall.

Any Sleep Center, especially UofM should be able conduct sleep studies for you.  I would ask for a split study so you get their estimate of PAP therapy settings.

The right doctors though is a different story.  You want one that is very familiar with your form of apnea and its treatment.  Here we have seen some Ducks (think of The sound they make) say apnea is apnea even when presented with severe CA and Mixed apnea.

Sleep Hygiene is important and any competent Dr should be able to handle that.  Unfortunately all too many look at averages and say ok, next.
