CMS50F DOA?
I bought a CMS50F pulse-ox from an ebay seller. When the box arrived the tape sealing the box was already cut open, although everything inside is in lots of little plastic baggies with twist ties on cords.
If I plug the power cord in, it's a bright steady green (which should mean that the battery is fully charged?) If I click briefly on the button, it changes from green to yellow/red and then after a second or two goes back to green. If I press and hold the button, the light goes from green to yellow/red and the words "Ver 3.9" appear on the screen. As I continue to hold, the light goes back to green -- and the "Ver 3.9" flickers slightly. Continuing the hold, the "Ver 3.9" turns off and then comes back on as the light turns yellow/red.
All of the other stuff that the little booklet shows -- nothing. The screen is either completely blank or says "Ver 3.9" on it.
So for all of you experienced with this thing -- is this simply a DOA electronic device? Or is there some trick not communicated by the broken English in the booklet?
RE: CMS50F DOA?
I don't have an answer for you but I bought mine about 6 months ago and just checked mine is ver 6.1......
RE: CMS50F DOA?
Ver 3.9 is definitely old stock. How bright is the Ver 3.9 line" The OLEDs are known to fade over time.

RE: CMS50F DOA?
Maybe eBay seller pawned off old unit.

RE: CMS50F DOA?
That is very weird. I don't have to hold down the button on the brand new CMS50F that I just purchased from an eBay seller, though mine is the new version (2.0.0 hardware and 2.0.6 software). I press the button on the front of the "watch face" and release, and it says "Welcome", then shows the screen that displays all the data, waveform, etc. In order to view the version, I have to press and hold the button again to get into the menu, then go to the system menu. So there's something definitely not up to date with it.
I would definitely complain if it isn't working. If the seller refuses to refund all of your money (and won't pay for return postage as it's not working and they provided inappropriate goods) then you can at least raise a claim with eBay or Paypal, and they're pretty good at refunding these things if the seller isn't playing ball. They do come with a year warranty, but Contec will probably just send you back to the seller as you didn't buy it directly from them.
