53 CA events in an hour? Never seen this before
Hi guys,

Fell asleep last night, woke up around 7am with my AHI at 0.8, fell back asleep with the mask on as I don't start working until midday.

Saw that I had an AHI of 10 which I haven't seen for a long time.

Looked at the data in OSCAR and I had 53 central events within an hour, what the hell?

The first thing to remember is that we adjust therapy to treat trends, not exceptions. It's hard to know why you experienced this repeating loop of CA, however it is not uncommon in awake sleeping or other sleep disruption. This looks like a feedback loop of alternately hyperventilation and hypoventilation. As long as it remains rare, it is not something to worry about.

Thanks, I've called my sleep doctor and they've told me to come in Wednesday so they can have a look.

What are they though?

The only causes I can find behind multiple CA events all look terrifying. I don't believe there are only terrifying causes such as heart disease and stroke. I recently completed a 24 holter monitor test due to excessive ectopic beats but it came back fine.

Focus on the fact that the majority of the night was very good. We often see an increased rate of CA during periods of arousal, and in your case, all of this is after 9:00 AM if your clock is correct. I honestly an inclined to disregard this unless it becomes the norm rather than the exception.
