RE: CPAP Problems
Hi nmbugs,
Good luck with your new machine and no appologies necessary, it helps to give great detail so you can get the assistance you need.
Hope it goes well with the new machine.

Do you normally sleep with Oxigen? If so, some CPAP masks have a port for your O2 line, or alternatively, there's cheap connectors available to place between your CPAP mask and hose that enable continued O2 use while sleeping with your CPAP device.

Yes I do, I was shocked the ResMed mask I have didn't have a built in port since it seems like a really really nice mask (feels that way anyways....lol). The company I got my cpap from gave me a couple connectors though Smile. Wish me luck, off to try the new pressures and unit.

Thank you, I have been really overwhelmed these last few months. I started getting sick almost a year ago but we just finally found out what is causing it. I think my husband and I are still in shock and trying to figure out that what, when, why's of it all.

RE: CPAP Problems
Just an update!!

For the record, I LOVE my new machine! I can't remember when I had such a good night sleep or woke up feeling well rested.

Also I cannot believe the DATA this wonderful machine (yeah I love it, but I mentioned that already Grin) puts out. Curious for those that have this unit, it records hypopneas and obstructive events, can it record centrals? The reason I ask is because neither study picked up ANY obstructive events, just a few centrals and a bunch of Hyponeas and RERAs like I mentioned earlier. Events according to logs was 8 hyponeas and 18 obstructives for an AHI of only 3.2 Dancing

Thanks so much!

No, it won't flag Centrals as such. It will flag Clear Airway events. These are likely to be Centrals, however are referred to as Clear Away because you're not wired up wearing diaphragm belts etc to confirm that your body is not actually trying to take a breath.

You may also encounter Unknown apnea events being flagged. These are events the device can't positively identify. It's possible some of these could be Clear Away (or Obstructive etc).

Glad to read about your positive experience.

RE: CPAP Problems
Surly is correct, it may also pick up movements and often things like coughing etc, the machine are good but not as good as a sleep study so just have to be aware that it is not 100% exact and should be used as a guide.

Researching how to use this machine and what certain data means I found this:

http://www.resmed.com/us/assets/document...er_eng.pdf

AutoSet algorithm available in S9 AutoSet™
and S9 Escape Auto™. CSA detection available
in S9 AutoSet and S9 Elite™.

Does this mean you would need an adapter to register the CSAs? So far I have found nothing that mentions how it logs them or if an adapter is needed to log them.

Thanks!
