Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it seems that later versions of Android restrict access to these data files - all in the name of security 
As far as I can tell, if you're running Android 14 (as I am) then you're out of luck, and you won't be able to copy them off the phone.
There appear to be 3rd party apps that claim to get round this issue, but I'm too wary to risk this.
I've reverted to using a wired connection to pull these files. More hassle, but at least it works.
