I have been carefully cleaning, same as always, no changes, no new soaps, makeup, lotions, whatever. NO CHANGES. I let it fully clear up, use a NEW mask and rash reappears. Let it clear up and use one of my old, old F10 masks, and I am ok. I have tried a new F20 also and still got a new rash. With no changes on my part, I am ready to assume that they have changed their “recipe” for silicone, or whatever these things are made of. Anyone else have this problem?

Change in manufacturing? [ResMed F10 and F20 Masks]
Hello! After 3 years of using Resmed F10 mask, I am suddenly getting a rash around the border.

RE: Change in manufacturing?
Sometimes you can develop an allergic reaction to something, where prior it was not a problem for you.
But if you really like your mask, try using mask liners. That may help by keeping the silicone away from your skin.

Thanks Opal Rose. I suspect it is an allergy, but since I am still OK using an old mask, probably manufactured 2-3 years ago, I also suspect there has been a change on the company’s part in the new mask manufacturing. I have never tried a mask by a different manufacturer so I will do that. Has anyone had experience with the fabric masks? Can they be sterilized in a SoClean?

Most definitely not the same as what you're dealing with, but if I swap in a new AirFit F20 silicone, my skin tends to dry out and peel where the mask touches. After a cushion washing or two, this tends to subside. I only use very warm water and Dawn dish soap for CPAP parts cleaning.

I don't know if this will help but I switched to a P20 foam mask and immediately got a rash on the back of my neck. I got a Padacheek mask liner which stopped it.

I might suspect that it is a residue left on the mask seal after manufacture.
Give it a very good wash, it might be something as simple as a lubricant left after molding. As this is likely to be an oil based product, it might take a good wash and soak to get rid of it. So far it has not bothered me.
I am NOT a doctor. I try to help, but do not take what I say as medical advice.

My wife is experiencing the same symptoms and exactly the same scenario. She started on a F10 and now she is using the F20. She has some redness and some skin flakes. We are doing just as ScarcasticDave recommends and we are also going to treat her skin with some lanolin. I expect good results.
