Resmed Airsense 10 Projectiles Blown into Nose

RE: Resmed Airsense 10 Projectiles Blown into Nose
Thanks Dave,

Maybe I'll have to research a different mask....

I have tried encapsulating (engineered) my pillows mask in terry cloth, foam, and neoprene.  Nothing seemed to work

Sometimes you just need a whole different style of mask. I tried all sorts of things to get the F20 triangle mask I was first issued not to hurt so badly I couldn't sleep (hey, no sleep apnea if you can't sleep, right?!¿) Massive sinus pain with that thing, no matter what I did.

The f30i hybrid pretty much actually works for me. That doesn't mean it works for you, of course, but that's not what I'm suggesting - I'm suggesting that you, your head, your face, may need a different mask than the one you now have to work for you. I can't tell you what that is, and most DMEs seem to be pretty awful at it, too. But you should try some different options.

Thanks for the MEOW Cats....  I agree... not sure what my ideal mask looks like, but maybe what I got ain't it.

I tried / have the N30i and the N30.  Wasn't keen about the N30i, so tried the N30.  The N30 was worse, so I went back to the N30i last time.  Yes, the ME folks aren't really much help, their supply of masks are somewhat limited, with most being the full face ones.  They do have a 30 day exchange policy, where if you return your mask w/i 30 days, you can get a different one.  I hate to do that because I'd likely go through each one they have!

Unfortunately, when I tighten up the N30i, I can feel my pulse in the strap across my head.... guess I'm a little sensitive.  That's why I tried putting a cloth barrier, foam, etc. on the straps.

BTW, being an engineer type, I noticed that the water tank on my resmed 10.... the fill like is below the inlet from the air pump motor.  I had a crazy idea of adding an 'extension' to the inlet to make it go into the water in the tank.  Currently, the inlet air sits on top of the water.  Guess how it works is... the air comes in and mixes with some water vapor, then gets expelled the outlet down the hose.  I'll lry using the humidity setting again. to see if that helps.

Regarding the positional apnea, i'll have to re-read the article.  I've had spinal fusion (rods in the back on the bottom 5), so my sleep positions are somewhat limited:  start on the right side, then flat, then left side.... like rinse and repeat.  About every 20-30 minutes I'm rolling over....

Thanks to everyone who provided feedback!   Thanks

I really appreciate the community inputs, because I'm trying to make it work as I see the benefits I get from the machine.  I'm sure others have experienced and solved these problems, I i hope to build off your vast knowledge.

FWIW Positional Apnea isn't strictly based on your overall body position, but the head in a position that kinks off the airway. This is much like when your garden hose gets kinked and the water has reduced flow.

F40 mask may be worth a try.  It has minimal contact from the mask and headgear.  It moves well with my side to back to other side sleep.
