I'm wondering how much the machine helps at a pressure of 4, and would I get similar numbers without the machine? Without the devices [ nose strip, and mouth tape] I was at 13.7 with the pressure at 4 instead of 10-16.. my doctor says my ahi when I was tested was at 50.. I'm wondering if it would be safe to stop using the machine. Or if there is anyway I can test my ahi without the cpap machine. My doctor says I have to do it through the sleep clinic and I doubt they will let me do another test.

Changing Pressure
I've been experimenting with my pressure I'm currently at 10-16.. And wondering how much having the pressure at 4 helps? I've dropped it down to 4 to test mouth taping, a nose strip and a mouthpiece that keeps the jaw forward. With those devices on and pressure at 4 I get an AHI of 1.5 and 1.6..Without the mouthgaurd and sleeping on my back with mouth taping and nose strip I got a 3.7. I was able to get a 1.1 but not for a full night without the mouthpiece and just tape and mouth strip at pressure of 4 ..while sleeping on my side but wasn't able to maintain the position for a full night.

RE: Changing Pressure
No if you use the cpap it is giving therapy of at least 4... A sleep study is the only way to find out without a cpap. did you set it to min 4 and max 4???

RE: Changing Pressure
Hi Joerichmond-so you set it to a constant (cpap mode) pressure of 4cm?

RE: Changing Pressure
Yes I set both minimum and maximum to 4.. I'm not sure if I can get a sleep study since I'm already on a CPAP..I think I might have to buy the equitment.

RE: Changing Pressure
Well, seeing the Oscar data would be beneficial for sure so please install an SD card How are you feeling with it set to a low pressure? I too use constant pressure but I have a much higher setting (15.5cm-C-flex+ enabled at 2) and I'm getting on average a little under 1 ahi. 4cm would not be enough for me, but everyone is different so I'd really like to see the data.

RE: Changing Pressure
The pressure is crucial to address, but I'm also thinking you're creating more problems for yourself than you're solving. I wouldn't be able to breathe properly with all that happening in the vicinity of my mouth and I'd wake up with an excruciating headache. Never mind whatever AHI I'd end up with. Display an Oscar or two to get the pressure situated and some analysis about how to minimize leaks.
