As far as the noise, the whisper swivel is unfortunately pretty noisy. Have you calculated the correct Tidal Volume for you and are you wearing an O2 monitor? I ask because you may find you need more lengths of tubing and moving that valve away will help the volume. I had to use 24" which is more than the study that is usually mentioned on the forum recommended but I have also found other studies that use more dead space and even recommend 600 ml as the ideal amount.
You will likely find moisture becomes a problem, I'm using an HME and starting tonight 2 of them. I will likely have to switch to a mask without a short tube to get the HMEs closer to the mask. I have also turned off my humidifier completely.
I've been using this setup for about 3 weeks if you have any questions.

Yes, I have worn my 0-2 monitor and the oxygen level is probably 90-96% throughout the night as I recall. Which would probably indicate a bit of an excess of CO-2 or an EERS problem?
I believe he was correct- thus, I obtained the parts to check it out. As you will note the upshot was to attempt to lower the FL and lower the pressures while still keeping the AHIs down. Everything considered I'm not sure that the end justifies the means in my particular case. Probably I'll shelf the EERS for the time being..
I started with a 6" tube length. My F-30 insists on running the hose UP over the headboard to avoid leaks -so- that put the noisy little bugger right near my ear. Your idea to stick the Swivel Valve under the blanket when using longer tube lengths would probably help a lot.
I see it was for the periodic breathing pattern. EERS should definitely improve that. My O2 levels significantly improved with EERS.
You shouldn't feel any discomfort, its likely the vent was a bit obstructed. The studies out there don't indicate any negative health issues until you get to 750 mL + of dead space. Before patients had negative health issues breathing showed irregular patterns.
As a side note, there's a study showing EERS improves both central and obstructive apneas along with stabilizing breathing. Its likely nearly everyone would see at least minor improvement by finding the ideal dead space for them.
I would suggest just doing some short trials looking for the length that gives you the best tidal volume and most stable breathing, then you can decide if that gives you enough length to address the noise problem.
I'll look at the papers for the other trials and see if they used the same vent or if there's another option. One repurposed a high altitude training mask to create the EERS with co2 sensors.

RE: Curious question about PS
Lookin' pretty good. Thanks
I went ahead and re-rigged my EERS with a 24" tube. It would have to be at least this long IF it had any chance with your 'under the covers' trick. May or may not put it to a check. We shall see how it goes without it for a bit first-

I had about 30 minutes worth of finite details about ready to post and the damn mouse rolled over and bumped the button...'Poof' All gone
To the point: Used the 24" tube EERS last night with the 24/16 PS-4 setting and crammed it under the covers in an attempt to silence it. Rerouting pressure tubing predictably caused mask leaks. Swivel valve was sorta quieter. All in all sleep during the night was fitful. Starting with the 24" tube was probably irresponsible but that would be the minimum for me to bury under the covers.
Woke with maybe the worse brain-fog ever. Perhaps it was from excessive CO-2 through the night. Did not use my 0-2 meter as I knew I had enough distractions already. My EERS is headed for the 'stuff' drawer and not planning on doing this anytime soon.
FWIW the last two Sessions are on this chart- first two were checking it out and not shown.
Yeah, not good. It could have been too much EERS but if you can't tolerate the noise with shorter tubing its not going to work regardless.
Unfortunately I didn't come up with anything on a different vent. The study that used an altitude training mask I hadn't realized didn't even use cpap. They were improving sleep apnea with dead space only.
