Dead Dreamstation 2

So my Dreamstation 2 quit. It is  about 3 weeks out of warranty.  I took it into the DME and they sent it off two weeks ago.  When I call to inquire about it, they say that PR has it and is determining whether replace it or fix it. and that they have no idea how long it will take because PR's response time has gotten long.

No mention has been made about how much this will cost me.  I am a little worried that they will call and say, "it is ready and it'll cost you $$$."

The DME says they have no loaners but of course, they have shelves full of new ones.  So I am not feeling much loyalty to them.
And recommendations or insights?

Buy a used Resmed Airsense 10 (or 11) AutoSet.

Well, first welcome to the same boat I'm in.

My less than 4 year old DS2 broke for the second time almost 3 months ago.

It took until 10/30, to get my local DME supplier to take it in. They are the supplier of this equipment and my supplies.

As of last week, when I talked to them, it took 4 hours for them to call me back, to tell me they sent it in, but don't know the status.

Don't the manufacturer and the DME supplier understand this is an important medical device used to keep people healthy and in my case, probably keeps me alive?

It was a good decision to keep my 10 year old DS1. That one wasn't recalled and works fine.

OBTW, the DS1's design is junk, and apparently its durability is poor.

When the 5 years are up, I am probably going to demand a ResMed.

This just sucks. Its a nightmare.
