Wating on a referal So scared
** Not asking for a diagnosis Just need to talk to someone about this**

For past week ive been having eposides where when I lie down in bed im fine I can be in bed for hours watching stuff, but as soon as I go and try and fall asleep I feel like im stoping breathing I wear an Oximeter Spo2 and somtimes when I feel this way it still normal 95+ othertimes I feel like this way im struggling its 88%, Its very scary feeling, but then theres times where I wake up from my sleep go to the toliet go back to bed and have 0 issues feeling that way and go back to sleep normally other times I feel like I stop knowing how to breathe when trying to sleep. I woke up last night and felt short of breathe and checked was in 80s% and then went str8 back up again. It dont matter if its on my back side or stomache always same feeling. I am 28 stone male 6ft 29yo so ofc that does not help and is almost certainily to blame if I had sleep apena. Im just feel like the doctors dont care cause they said I need an appointment within 7 days and they booked me one with a minor aliments nurse and not a doctor so thats made me frustarted. Anyways I just came on here to see if anyone else had the same issue and story when they was first having issues with sleep apena and just for some reasurance cause everynight i feel like Im not gonna wake up.

If 28 stones is referencing a weight, it appears to convert to 392 lbs.

OP,

Your concern for sleep and breathing is normal, especially after being made aware you're not breathing at times. I've dealt with it after taking a sleep study that showed 124 Central Apnea with 24 Obstructive in 2017. Worse when I was put on a bilevel without backup rate, where CA at least doubled.

So the answer is yes, concern or higher levels of anxiety, fear, etc. does happen. Once you get CPAP it will help you.

Are you scheduled for a sleep study yet?  I'm guessing that will be scheduled when you visit the nurse.  Attach a redacted copy of it once you have a paper copy.  That will help us figure out what is going on with your sleep, so we can help you. Smile

What you're feeling is scary but unfortunately normal for some of us.

Until you have a sleep study scheduled and start using a Cpap machine, my suggestion is to try and sleep somewhat elevated. I had to wait over 2 months from sleep study to receiving a machine. I mostly slept in a recliner, or propped myself up in bed, because I knew I'd be jerked awake and felt myself gasping for a breath. You're not alone!
