what should I do?
So one year ago I started feeling very fatigued and like my sleep is really bad (I know it because my eyes look tired all day) so I went to my family doc who gaslighted me and told me its anxiety or whatever then I went to my psych who referred me to a sleep study, it was an at home sleep study which showed everything is fine even tough I felt like my sleep was really bad during the days of the sleep study, since then I tried to train myself into sleeping on my side because I believe that It all started when I switched to a flat pillow and since then im unable to get back to side sleeping, ive been thinking about asking for an in lab sleep study since at home tests can be inaccurate and im unable to retrain myself to sleep on my side and my life is heillish being so tired. should I switch a family doctor and ask the new one for a in lab study?

RE: what should I do?
Did they give you the results of the in-home sleep study? If so redact your personal data and post the summary pages.
Whether you need an in-lab study, it depends on your insurance rules and how much you push them. If they want you to start with a second home study, it is better than not double-checking the original study, but try to get a two-night sleep study to rule out a single anomalous night. Not as accurate as an in-lab test, but good directionally. Depending on the findings you could then push for an in-lab study if needed. They should do a full physical work-up as well with CBC tests to rule out something else. Note that it is very possible to have poor sleep and not have sleep apnoea. They may be accurate on their analysis of the first test, but getting a second to verify is not unreasonable. You just may have to push them gently to get it done. |
