Do I still need a CPAP

Do I still need a CPAP
I first joined this forum in 2017.  My first setting was a 10 on the ResMed Airsense 10.  My computer profile usually had my "mask seal" as good and my AHI under 5.0.  By 2020, my AHI was under 2.0.  After another sleep study my resistance was reset to 7.0.  My AHI remained under 2.0

Earlier this year, I had surgery to correct a deviated septum (which I had no clue was an issue).  My breathing was no astounding.  After a short recovery (and some sleuthing), I reset my Autosense [now]11 to 5.0, and a couple of days ago to 4.0.  My AHI is still under 2.0 - usually under 1.0.  There are time when I feel like I am over-breathing my CPAP, but I am curious if I should get a new sleep study.

I would try downloading OSCAR, import your CPAP data to it, then post a standard chart.

Here's the "problem" or catch 22, if that's what we should call it, you might get tested and find you don't need CPAP. But you may actually need it.

This happened to me. I tested while having ASV therapy, but also have COPD. It didn't prove I needed another equal or higher therapy, which is what I need. It "proved" a supposed over treatment and I got sent back to standard bilevel which can't do it for me.

That's the catch. You might need CPAP and another test can prove you don't. Or vice versa.

So what's your current sleep data? Treated and comfortably sleeping?

Note that while on CPAP even at minimum is probably doing some level of therapy. So you can't reliably self test.

If you really want to find out needing CPAP or not, regardless of what I said above, getting a new sleep study is the only action to determine needing CPAP.

Thank you.  I am actually very comfortable with the CPAP.  As a scuba diver, I have a regulator that opens up a stronger connection to my air tank when I inhale harder, so the positive pressure is comforting.  I did reset the pressure to 6 since I was "overbreathing" the unit when it was set at 4.

Good move to increase the min pressure.

Buy an sp02 sensor (wellue o2 ring from amazon is good) and go to sleep w/ out cpap to see how many desaturations your experience overnight. You may consider trying a sleep position appliance to keep you off your back and you could potentially sleep w/ out cpap - good luck.

As Dave said, downloading OSCAR and posting some charts (assuming you have an SD card in your machine), would be a great help.
