Does anyone like the Bleep Dreamport better then the Eclipse?
I have never tried either but looking to make an order, just curious if there is anyone who prefers the original Bleep Dreamport better then the new Eclipse?

Thanks!

RE: Does anyone like the Bleep Dreamport better then the Eclipse?
Interesting question.

At church, I know quite a few cpap users and we often talk/share experiences/make recommendations.  There are 5 of us that have tried bleep eclipse.  Two have gone back to dreamports, one person who had never used dreamports, tried eclipse and hated them (so now they don't use either).   One person loves eclipse, and I am still trying to make eclipse work.  There are actually a couple of on-going threads about eclipse over at a DME-owned forum

Doesn't seem promising, but the numbers are small (!!!), and I've heard from other sources that eclipse is a huge success, at least in terms of sales.

I'm not sure which I would recommend.  Dreamports are a more seasoned product, after a learning process of over a month (figuring out best orientation, how to remove excess oil from skin etc), I used for over 2 years with virtually 0 leaks.  I think eclipse applies easier (no plastic port to point down), but I'm struggling with magnetic frame staying attached--it will just pop off, sometimes several times in a night.  Easy to reattach, but it disrupts my sleep.

Wish I could give you a more definitive answer, but I think it partly depends on shape of nose, which means there isn't one answer for everyone.

Good luck in whichever you choose, If you have specific questions, please post.

Thanks for the reply. Thats nice that you know some CPAP users in real life so you can share you knowledge with eachother and interesting range of opinions from the 5. That's really annoying that yours is popping off in the middle of the night. I was reading some of the mixed reviews on the bleep website, specifically that said the new eclipse ports are leaking which is what prompted me to make this post.

From what I understand, there was a manufacturing issue with the rings that caused them to lift off the pad creating a huge leak. I believe (but it’s mostly speculation) that is why eclipse is not readily available from DME’s -- production has slowed to a crawl while they fix/calibrate the production machines.

The fix (on our end) seems to be to take a rolling pin to the halo rings concentrating pressure over the metal rings (not the adhesive pads). That process has largely stopped the ring issue for me.

The frame popping off is another issue. I’m convinced it has to do with the shape of my nose/flexibility of the magnet rings to conform to the angle of the halo rings. Not sure there is too much I can do beyond hose management to reduce pulling from the frame. Working on a couple of ideas that hopefully are going to help. I may end up back on dreamports yet.

If you have any specific questions about either, I’ll give them my best shot.

Good luck!!

I have used the dreamports with great success.  It does take time to learn how to connect the ports but when you master it it is completely silent with no leaks.  Because of the connections sometimes be difficult to do I was looking forward to the eclipse.  When I received my order I also had nothing but problems with the ring pulling away from the adhesive usually after about four hours.  I spoke to the company and they sent me a few boxes that they had when were doing the initial testing.  I have had no problems at all with those halos.  I contacted the company recently and they said not to order yet as they needed a few more weeks to resolve the issue of the ring’s coming loose.

I've also had great success with the Dreamports, which I've used for a number of years now. They were/are a true CPAP game changer for me.

One disadvantage of the Dreamports and the only one I can think of is that you can't blow your nose after they are attached.

Can you blow your nose with the Halo ports attached to the nose?

RE: Does anyone like the Bleep Dreamport better then the Eclipse?
I initially bought the DreamPorts because they were the only Bleep available.  I happily used it for a long while, then decided to try the Eclipse Halos.  I love the idea of easy attachment, but they did not work for me.  The metal stuck out too far from my nostrils and made holes in the tape.  Also, I found them a lot heavier than the DreamPorts, so I went back to the Dreamports and have been very happy.  Even if they improve the Halos somehow, I doubt that I'll switch back.  The Dreamports are fiddly to use and take a little time to get used to.  I learned that I have to push very hard (in my opinion) to be sure they are clicked in place properly.  Now that I have mastered that, they are a breeze to use.  I'm sure I'll never use another type of mask. I am using both. I really want to go eclipse only, but it has weird turbulence that the Dreamport doesn't have for me. I think this is due to the plastic inserts that hold the magnet piece in having a 90 degree angle where they open up into the silicon part of the mask. The airflow at the nose for the Dreamport is totally smooth for me. The turbulence feels a little like trying to breath with your head out the window in the car while going at highway speeds. Your brain knows there is air to breath but sometimes the airflow seems to be taking air away from you.

Anyone else have the same experience?

RE: Does anyone like the Bleep Dreamport better then the Eclipse?
I was a Dreamport user and tried the Halos when they came out. I switched back to the Dreamports after a few frustrating nights.

I found the Halos resulted in a lot more noise, which bugged me. I needed to trim the adhesive so the second Halo to go on didn't cover up part of the magnet of the first one to go on. And for some reason, the angle of the Halos when they were on my nose meant that when the Dreamway was attached to them, they tugged uncomfortably hard.

The Dreamports are a little fiddly to be sure, but I don't have a problem with them. I listen for four little clicks on each side (though sometimes several seem to occur at the same time). I gently push up on the "stems" to make sure I have a good connection. And the final step is to cover the end of the short hose and try blowing air out through my nose. If all is well, there will be no sound of air escaping from the Dreamports, and the sides of my nose will inflate a little.

RE: Does anyone like the Bleep Dreamport better then the Eclipse?
I'm a new CPAP user (3 months) and I love the Dreamports. The full-face mask I tried leaked like crazy and left dents, the nasal cushions were better but the apparatus was irritating. There's a learning curve to attaching the ports, but once you get the hang of it it goes quickly. As other have said, there are absolutely no leaks and they are completely quiet. When I first used them, sometimes I would check the screen of my machine to see if it was on. When I wake up these days, I have no sensation of air coming in and out at all, even though when I detach the ports air rushes out of the hose loudly.

I did not try the Halos because I read that they were heavier. There also can be an issue with the magnets for some people.
