To qualify for GLP-1 weight loss drugs like Ozempic or Zepbound, the patient’s BMI must be over 27.  There are a lot of folks with sleep apnea who will never qualify.  Also, I thought sleep apnea was a disorder, not a “disease” as stated in the article.

We have seen many individuals that lost weight through barbaric surgery and disciplined life-style changes continue to require the use of PAP therapy, even with successful and substantial weight loss. This is a typical knee-jerk reaction in the stock market that means nothing for Resmed's business.

There is no free lunch, and these drugs diffidently fit this scenario.

• This drug is covered by most drug plans, except any of the Medicare drug schedules.
  
• Side effects include severe intestinal distress, to the point of hospitalization.
  
• Coming off these drugs causes you to have an obsessive appetite.
  

As with all drugs, I'm waiting until this one gets enough mileage on it to see all its demons.  This drug group just seems too good to be true.

Well said. I'm not impressed by this report. I might be more willing to take it at face value if the results of the "clinical trials" had been conducted by an independent source via a rigorous study. Otherwise, this means very little. I would not take the long-term safety of the medication for granted any more than the alleged efficacy for treating sleep apnea.
