It is my opinion from many years of XPAP  treatment that the various DME suppliers push for frequent replacement of XPAP  supplies as simply a sales tool. In the years that I have used a humidifier, I have never needed to replace a humidifier tank, rarely needed to replace a mask frame though I do replace the mask cushions maybe once a year. Similarly, the hose lasts several years, and even my intake filter(s) do not require frequent replacement. I think it is desirable to have a spare for each consumable just in case the one in service dies at an inconvenient time. And I use my machine every single night, and carry it with me when I travel.
