[Equipment] ResMed heated humidifier tubing doesn't stay warm

I wonder if there is something quirky about ResMed tubing. When I first go to bed, the heated humidifier tubing does heat up; I can feel the warmth when I touch it with my hand. But a few hours later the tubing no longer feels warm...and sometimes I get rainout.

I currently have the machine set to "auto" for humidity and tubing temperature, but I've noticed the same thing when I select the tubing temperature manually.

Has anyone else noticed the same thing? Thanks!

My AS 11 tube also heats and then seems to stop ..
But I have had rainout only once when the room cooled down 
below 45 or 50 degrees .. My machine is set on Auto ..
I thought the heater in the tube quit but it is working ..
I think the machine turns on the tube heater at start up
then senses room temp and adjusts to that ..

Not having rainout ..  If the room temperture drops the tube does warm up !!

Normally if the heated tube was detected when plug in and no error message pop up when using, you can consider it is 'working',
but if you want to know if the temp sensor reading is within tolerance you should ask for a service test.

I’ve described this to two DME people one one sleep medicine physician. No one has mentioned the possibility of a service test. What is that?

Yes. And I’ve observed the same thing with multiple humidifier tubings.

The DME may have test equipment to check the heating element and humidity sensor
in the ClimateLine .. The little plastic post at the exit of the tube is a humidity sensor ..
If We could get the specs. it could be checked with a Multi-meter ..

For years I assumed that the heated tubing on my Resmed Airsense S10 was faulty.  Even though it reported ClimateLine tubing was connected, and with multiple replacement tube sets, the tubing never heated up and I got rainout.

Then I got a different used Resmed AirCurve VAuto and had the same problem, so I just assumed Resmed's ClimateLine system was crap.  I even drilled a small hole length-wise through a cork, which fit my digital kitchen thermometer, and stuck that into the mask end of my tubing in order to verify that it wasn't heating up.

Just now, while I was dinking around with my machine, I decided to put some conductive grease on the contacts, where the tubing plugs into the machine ... Wallah! the tubing now heats up!

Even though the machine recognized that ClimateLine tubing was connected, on two different machines, the plug wasn't making proper electrical contact.  

Having that problem with 100% of the Resmed machines I've used confirms that Resmed's Climateline system is crap ... however, I have found an easy fix: put conductive grease on the tubing plug.
