F&P Nova Micro - Pillow sizing recommendation requested

F&P Nova Micro - Pillow sizing recommendation requested
Hello friends,

Want to give the new F&P Nova Micro mask a try. Am wondering if anyone has any sizing suggestions for the nasal pillows. My DME doesn't have the fit pack so I need to specify the size when I order.

Some people have said they run a little small so order up, others seems fine w/ normal sizing.

With the P10, I used a Medium though it was a little bit too small. The P10 large was too big.

With the F&P Brevida, the m/l pillow is perfect.

Any thoughts? Thank you.

I got the fit pack for the nova pillows.

I can actually use all 3, but favor the medium.

As for your DME, you can order a fit pack online, and i would encourage this so you can be sure to try all to find what you like.

The small pillows are noticeably smaller than both medium and large which are very similar to my eye in size of holes.

I did get some nostril pain, inflammation a couple times, but i move around a lot.
Just had to get the right pressure on the straps.

BTW, if you do change sides often, this mask can be frustrating, or it was for me.

I use an overhead hose caddy and that helps a lot.

And if you do end up getting this mask, you may also like to try using the FULL FACE setting!

This is a hack that allows a slower pressure response and really works well. Adjust your pressure up by 1 cm to accomodate this setting.

You can find that on a thread here and the author is Dr. Noah on the internet.

A few of us here are doing this and it does help for sure.

I am using this mask, too, as my beloved Bleep is causing skin problems. I am currently using the medium and am pretty happy, but I spoke to the DME about trying the small. They are sending me those with a return envelope to return whichever does not work as well. Probably your DME would do the same.

Judging by what you said I would start with the medium if I were you.  Good luck!  I think you will like the Nova Micro.  I first tried my old ResMed P30i and was miserable.  It hurt and leaked no matter what I did.  The NM is way better.

I'm still very new to this as I've only had the unit since October but I wanted to mention if you have a large head like I do (7 11/16) you may struggle with the nova micro. I've been trying it and the Eson 2 out and I realized last night that I have the nova headstrap at literally the longest possible setting and it sits so tight it hurts after 3-4 minutes. The eson 2 seems to leak a lot more but I can make it fit so factor that in.

Oh, I also don't have enough experience to know if this is normal but I found it incredibly loud when exhaling. It's one of the reasons I signed up here was to try to get a feel for what is normal as I have to exhale way harder than I do with the Eson 2 and to me it sounds like a jet engine in my head.

Hawkbox, I don't find exhaling noisy, but the vent on the front of the mask is a bit noisy. I don't even notice it now, but at first it seemed loud. Maybe that is what you are hearing.

That is something I noticed too but it's when I breathe out through my nose the sound is incredibly loud inside my head. I wear earplugs though too so it may be restricting air flow in unanticipated ways. I'm not going to try and threadjack this though as their experience may not be anything like mine.

I use a medium in both the P10 and Nova Micro. The shape of the pillows is different and it does seem a bit smaller, though very comfortable. If you are comfortable with a Large in another F&P product, maybe try the large?

Can you ask your supplier for a fit pack? I bought my own since my supplier doesn't carry them yet, and they came as fit packs. With my DME, once I know the size, they send those (referring to the P10).
