ResMed F40
My full face mask use goes back 17 years. The ResMed F40 is my second hybrid full-face mask. It is like a nasal mask that covers your mouth.
Out of 5 full face masks, the F40 is the best one yet for me. The F40 is the most comfortable, lightest, best fitting, easiest to put on, and best sealing out of the 5. It is like a much improved Evora full face, another hybrid.
It is very nice to have a mask not covering the top of my nose where a sore was beginning to form from an F20.
The straps do not need to be as tight as F10/F20 to get the F40 to seal. My pressure goes to 20cm. The headgear was easily adjusted and not nearly as irritating as the Evora FF and regular full-face masks. The magnetic strap connectors are easier to use than any connection type so far.
My F10s and F20s were Large sizes. I am using standard headgear and medium-size mask F40 which seems to fit better than the large F10/F20s.
My AHIs have not improved, but I am feeling more rested than usual maybe due to the minimalist size of the mask and headgear not being so irritating. I roll around a bunch during sleep. The F40 makes that easier.

RE: ResMed F40
I use the f40 and the solo nasal mask. I love the f40 compared to the solo since I don’t need to tape. I like to rotate masks. The f40 for me is the best ffm and I’ve tried them all.
RE: ResMed F40
Now six months into using ResMed F40 I still like it best out of five. My sinuses closed a couple of nights ago so I put on an F20. The F20 was so uncomfortable I removed it after 30 minutes. I have resorted to an Affrin-like nasal spray to open my nasal passages. I've not used that stuff in 25 years. I know it gets a bad rap but it does work very well.
Getting the straps right on any full-face mask is a challenge for me and is especially important for the F40. Sometimes I think I need to tighten them only to find the headgear was not positioned well.
Using the F40 has not solved the clusters of Large Leaks I call blowouts. They occur when my APAP shoots up to 15+ cm. I am not clear if leaks cause the rise in pressure or if the rise in pressure causes the leaks or both. Either way, that's when my majority of apneas occur in clusters.

RE: ResMed F40
I am newer to CPAP (APAP for now, bound for ASV soon). The F40 was trialed for me during my lab titration test. I started with nasal mask, but too much open mouth breathing. They switched to F40 middle of the night. I did well with it, and it is what I am using now. I have had no "large leaks" just some smaller ones. My assessment:
1. Fairly comfortable.. need to experiment with straps a little to get the seal right without being too tight. And first adjustment at night takes some shimmying around for comfort seal.
2. Pillow/mask definitely "wears out" after a couple weeks, in terms of sealing ability, I find. Stretches out maybe? It feels best when it is a brand new mask, and works better those nights, I think. I believe 14 days is replacement schedule recommendation.
3. Side sleeping is fair, that is my position. Need to place my head in the right spot so it doesn't pull off to the side, which it does more on the left for some reason.
4. Magnets are strong, but mine have pulled off a couple times, waking me with the leak noise (again mostly left side)
5. Headgear is comfy for me. But Straps are maxed out for what I must have (a smaller head). Wish there was a little more velcro room to play with for tightening.
Not sure what other mask would be more comfortable, so sticking with this for now. My APAP is not working for my CSA, so will trial this mask with new ASV when I get it. Hope to sleep better then. No professional advice here, just user feedback!
