First nite with Resmed N20
I have been on CPAP for 30 years. Have never gone through a large number of masks. I remember a Mirage from years past, which I was happy with, and for the last few years have been using a Fisher and Paykel 504 (540?). Been happy with it also.
Yesterday I picked up my new CPAP machine, Resmed 10 Autoset. Very quiet.
I was fitted with an Airfit N20 as they did not have the F20 in my size. I have some comments on the N20.
I experienced no leaks that I could tell. Very comfortable mask. I will download my sleep results as I learn how. My AHI was 1.? which I guess is pretty good.
I have a problem with the mask, however. It has a rigid frame which pushes on my cheekbone and left a bruise. I was a little sore in the AM. It is now 1 PM and the bruise is still there. Wondering if the harness itself comes in a larger size as it looks like I have all the straps close to the loosest settings. My mask is size large and I wonder if the harness is also that size and if so, if they make an extra large.
Trying to decide weather to sleep another night with the N20 or whether to go back to my Fisher and Paykel.
Thank you all!
RE: First nite with Resmed N20
I'd go back and avoid the bruise.
A couple of questions. First, is the bruise because the mask is too tight?
Have you considered pillows? You should try pillows, many of us use the P10 (Get a Fit Kit which has sm, med and large pillows) and there are those among us that cannot use it. go figure. You are using a nasal mask without leaks, you should be able to use pillows.
Read the Mask Primer, a lot of fit hints in there.

Thanks bonjour,
I am using the standard mask as given to me yesterday. When you say "pillows" is that an add-on.
I tried loosening the mask. I don't think it was too tight. I redid it this morning. I think the problem is with the rigid part of the harness.
Also, I am concerned with the leakage shown on the chart. Is this normal. I felt the mask itself was fitting good with no leaks.
Trying to post statistics. Hope it works.
RE: First nite with Resmed N20
Statistically the leak looks OK. The daily chart, including the leak Rate would be better, frequently we can see a good probable cause from the graph profile.
ResMed P10 Pillows is a different style mask which has none of the frame that is causing your issues. It is the least intrusive mask there is, a simple strap around your head and a "pillow" for each nostril to provide air. Also VERY quiet. My wife doesn't like it because she thinks I've stopped breathing because she doesn't hear it.

Edit Reason: forgot to add chart

RE: First nite with Resmed N20
I get it. I tried the nose pillows initially and my nose felt raw inside. That was 30 years ago, before humidifiers became common. Maybe I should try them again.
I have posted what I hope is a more thorough chart.
You're a peach, bonjour.
My attachment won't show.
I guess I have an attachment quota of 200 mb ???
RE: First nite with Resmed N20
Too small a "Pillow" will fit inside your nose, That would be an improper fit. Pillows should rest ON your nares/nasal openings, NEVER inside.
Nasal prongs go inside your nares and have been mostly replaced by pillows.

My chart from lat night, 9/6/2017
I've read the file on leakage but I'm stumped. How is my leakeage doing? I thought my mask was on real good and no leaks.
RE: First nite with Resmed N20
Welcome to the forum! There is a very significant leak event at some point around the morning time. I can't see the time since your chart is cut off at the bottom. I would suggest re-arranging your chart a little. Follow Bonjour's link where it says "Posting Sleepyhead charts in 5 easy steps."
RE: First nite with Resmed N20
The leaks are there not a deal breaker. You had one leak around 7:30AM or 7:40AM where it looks like you just took off the mask and let it run for a few minutes. (bathroom break?)
RE: First nite with Resmed N20
Yep, bathroom break. Thank you!
