First time user, what settings should I tweak?

First time user, what settings should I tweak?
Hi, I need some help understanding my OSCAR data from my first night of use. I lurked this forum for information before my first night and set it to 6-20 as to not go too low, EPR 2, ramp off. Machine is a ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet and I'm using a full face F20 mask.

First night wasn't too bad as far as getting used to it I think. I was able to fall sleep though I woke up maybe 4-5 times during the night, while usually I sleep all night or wake up maybe once. But I'm happy I was able to sleep with it at all  Smile

From my limited understanding the CA events might be caused by oxygen saturation and may be ignored or I could turn down/off EPR?
As for pressure from reading the data I think I should be bumping up the minimum pressure a bit as well?

Any help is much appreciated  Thanks

RE: First time user, what settings should I tweak?
Do you have a summarised sleep study you could share? Mainly interested in whether CA's were part of it or not. New users tend to get Treatment Emergent Central Sleep Apnea (TECSA) due to things being, well, new. Most go away over 2-3 months.

For your settings, give this a go.

Mode APAP
Min pressure 10
Max pressure 12
EPR 3 full-time
No ramp

My reasoning is that you have enough flow limitations to warrant using an EPR of 3 and your pressure swings show that you do not have enough pressure. Increasing it to more than the median and close to the 95% should stop that when coupled with more EPR. I think narrow ranges between min and max pressure is more comfortable, so like to keep a small range once you know the median, 95%, and 99.5% numbers.

Try that for a few days and let us know how it works out and how you feel. It may take a few days to get used to it, so give yourself some time.

And my most difficult piece of advise to follow is to not overthink things. There are many rabbit holes one can go down with CPAP, most do not contain rabbits, just the droppings. Read as much as you have time or desire to do, but be careful with the advise given.

RE: First time user, what settings should I tweak?
Thanks for the answer. I did an at home study last year with these results:

AHI: 3
AHI (on back): 7
AHI (on side): 1
Longest event: 34 s
Avg. saturation: 95%
Lowest saturation: 87%
Saturation under 90%: 0%
ODI: 2

I took a nap and changed the minimum pressure to 8, and set EPR to 1 before you posted. I think that will correspond to min 10 EPR 3 on exhale?
I will try the other settings tonight and see.
