Question
Flow LIMIT data missing tried to search forum
Hello all.  This post is outside my lengthy continuing saga thread, lol.

I tried to search the forums but am unable to digest any information on why my flow LIMIT info does not show up on my charts.  I have a Resmed so I thought it should.  Would someone tell me why this might be so?  Does it have to do with what settings on my Resmed are being used?

I read the section in the Wiki about issues - various (Flow limitations, snoring, mouth breathing and reviewed the graphic of classes of inspiratory flow shapes, according to the graphic, tons of my waveforms are class 7. But this is by looking at my chart's flow RATE shapes.

If this post needs to be moved to the software forum I understand.

Thank you so much.

I'm not exactly sure about the AC10 ST-A, but if it isn't in the Auto mode, it will not report Flow Limits. Flow Limits on an AC10 series seems to be limited to the Auto mode.

Hi Crimson Nape.

If I check my machine settings and it tuns out it is not in auto mode should I try to change it to auto mode?  However, it is currently on iVap setting and don't know if it is possible to make the change and also if making the change would negatively affect me.  At this point though nothing is working anyway so it could't hurt to try?

I think the ST-A sold in the U.S. has a fixed EPAP pressure. Detection of flow limits is used to adjust EPAP pressure on auto-adjusting machines, so I don't think your machine has the flow limitation detection. It's not hard to use inspiration time as a surrogate as insp time will generally rise with increasing flow limitation, it can also decrease tidal volume, and you can look for increasing pressure support as an indicator. Of course the most direct method is to scan the flow rate chart. You are well-acquainted with what flow limitation looks like.

You are always a great help Sleeprider!  Thanks.

Yes, I am well acquainted with the Flow RATE graph,  Laugh-a-lot

But I did not realize how to interpret the other graphs as part of trying to figuring my situation out.  I will look at those graphs more in depth now.

Btw, I spoke to the people who will be setting my appointment for Mayo and talked about my wanting to bring my data from OSCAR.  I had to explain what OSCAR is and they said that I could bring it.

Smile

Another question,

Is the graph "Insp. Time" are the wave shapes used for class interpretation?

If I want to post some views of my charts would it be beneficial to arrange the graphs in an order of Sleeprider's suggestions?

I know there is a preferred way to post the individual graphs but should I rearrange them for this discussion?

Inspiration time does not display like the flow rate, rather you can see trends. It's a good idea to view it with a dotted line at the median and 90% level. This lets you quickly see where inspiration time is longer, and you can see if that tends to correlate with inspiratory flattening. In my case it's not a perfect correlation, but it tends to be pretty close, but sometimes it's just deeper breathing.

RE: Flow LIMIT data missing tried to search forum
Sleeprider, I placed a dotted line at the median level in the Insp. Time graph as you suggested.  However, I don't understand the "and 90% level" you mention.  When I right click on the text for Insp. Time a number of choices of things you can set.  I see a zoom level that says 100% level but no way to change that.  I clicked on it and I think it may have changed to the 100% level but I am not sure.

What should I be doing about the level %?

Oh, I did the O2 overlays to the Flow Rate graph and the Insp. Time graph.  I had some massive O2 drops during the night.  One even lasted just over 23 minutes.  I also had a large leak during the night, but strangely the O2 ring data does not show any O2 droppage.

Sincerely,
Plmnb

RE: Flow LIMIT data missing tried to search forum
Here are a couple of visuals from last night:

I am really curious about the fact that it appears there were no O2 drops during my large leak period.  Also, there was just over a 25 minute drop of O2 between 4:50 and 5:10 without a leak being registered.  When I over over the O2 indicators there were also lengthy dops but not as high as this particular one.

Thanks.
