RE: Resmed Airsense 10 Projectiles Blown into Nose
My first 3 CPAP machines' filters were discolored after 1 month of use. My last two including the current one show no filter discoloration after 1 month. Some believe this is due to the filter size of the most recent two being larger than the previous machines. I don't understand that conclusion. All were used within the same house, same heating/cooling.
I run MERV 12 20"x20" air filters in the house that become discolored within one day of use. The fan for these filters does not have much draw. I have three other filters on AC/heating units and one dehumidifier. They all become discolored within a month.
Do you have a source for hypoallergenic CPAP filters that you mentioned? What I am finding online like at
[DME Link Removed] Supplier #38 looks the same as what I get from my DME. Are ResMed filters not hypoallergenic? I would like to run the test as well.
Thanks,
ejb

I am not allowed to identify the commercial source because of the regulations of this forum. However, the filter bag has the ResMed symbol and the " S9/AIT10 FILTER, Hypo, 12 pack REF 36857" mark. It was manufactured by Resmed PTY LTD, 1 Elizabeth Macartur Dr., Bella Vista NSW 2153 AUS.

I found the ResMed hypoallergenic filters on a US online CPAP supplies site and ordered.
I took a look at what filters DME sends me. They are not ResMed. The filters I get from a small business local DME have their company name on the package. The filters are very possibly substandard and dangerous as were others this company has sent me.
This could be a problem many need to consider. If the DME is reimbursed by insurance with a fixed amount per item it would financially benefit them to seek low-cost filters that may be substandard and dangerous. When I demonstrated the loose fibers to an employee of my DME the comment was, "Oh, I have never noticed that." The fibers were falling off the filter.
Looking online at the big retailer of many products I see low-priced CPAP filters from various brands. I suspect these filters may not be held to standards and like some I have received can be dangerous due to their fibers coming loose which if passed through the machine would be extremely dangerous.

I suggest you starting a new thread about this danger in the product review forum and select a title that is easy to find by search and describes the issue.
