YT video has the Simplus as quite leaky. I had found that Eson2 was more leaky than the Wisp on my face. I don't mind if a mask a bit leaky as long as it is comfor table and causes little or no pressure sores.

RE: Full Face Mask Recommendation - Mirage Quattro or ??
Well I tried my son's used Mirage Quattro last night and it didn't go so well. I adjusted the mask following the included ResMed instruction book. Seemed quite easy to set up and also seemed to seal quite well when I put the machine in the leak test mode and I was lying down. The problems started after about 1.5 hours. Leaks started coming and going mainly around the bridge of my nose and along the cheek portion. They were not large but annoying. I cranked the adjustment knob in and out with no apparent change in leaks. It was weird, as the mask almost felt like it was alive and floating around on my face. I took it off, washed my face, and readjusted as best I could in the middle of the night, doing the leak test again, but it was still a no go. The leaks were keeping me from going to sleep. So I took it off and went back to the P10. Got a decent sleep after that.
I will attach the SH results, but I'm not sure what they mean. Leaks look not bad, but as pressure went up I got a relatively large number of events at 1:15 or so. I found a blog with an article titled Taming the Mirage Quattro (Google will find it), and will follow that procedure today and see how I can do with an afternoon nap. I don't like to give up on this mask as it certainly solves the mouth leak problems better than tape and chin strap. And it is quite comfortable other than the annoying leaks. The good news is that when I went back to the P10 I didn't use tape over the mouth, just my elastic chin strap. Results for that part of the night were pretty good. That may be where I end up if I can't make a full face mask work... Any suggestions are welcome. I don't have a beard. Do people shave before they go to bed so the face is clean shaven? By midnight last night I did have a bit of a stubble, and wonder if that was an issue. On the other hand my son has a full beard and he makes this thing work for him...

FWIW. Mirage Quattro - nice but it leaks. ResMed Foam 20 - no leaks.

Ron,
Thank goodness you wrote because I lost your thread! First - your question. I don't know the proper name, but it is the new 20 mask with the foam and magnets. Second and more important. The article you referred to "Taming the Mirage Quattro". I have been using that mask about forever (I used it with my old machine) but have NEVER gotten the thing to work without leaks. Until now!!! I brought up the article and then went upstairs and tried it and IT WORKS!!! Wow, what a difference! You HAVE to try it! It really works. I think the key is leaving all that slack in the upper part. On my mask the upper two straps are barely tightened and the knob is turned maybe 5 or 6 clicks.

Larry, Good info, and I will try the "Taming" setup technique this PM for a nap. Will also research the foam mask. It must be the new memory foam version of the F20 which uses silicone. The inserts are interchangeable. The only down side I have heard about them is that the foam is not that durable. But, perhaps with some TLC they could be made to last... Thanks, Ron

Ron,
Yes, I think you have the right mask. As far as it lasting, I think it depends upon the user. I've used my 20 over a month and it seems to be ok. I have the silicone insert too, but since I have a beard, I've been using the foam.

I tried multiple methods this PM to try and get this Mirage Quattro to stop leaking. I can do it at about 10 cm pressure but not at 15 cm. I think I will concentrate on trying to make my AirFit P10 work with a chinstrap only. Will try that tonight. In the end I may have to compromise on what kind of AHI I can get. Seems to me it is better to sleep through the night with a higher AHI than to not sleep with a lower AHI. Good thing I did not fork out the $$ for a new Mirage Quattro.

Well, using the stuff in that article, I got the Mirage Quattro to not leak at 30 cmH2O. I'm certainly not advocating for the mask, but for the article. Before I read it, I would have thought it impossible.

i have a simplus, which i like, but have had similar experience with leaks. i discussed the f20 with my doc, and he said that some users have elected to stay with the f10, as it was more effective. i may go with the f10 myself when i can get medicare to front for me.
