HalfStep - Therapy Thread
Hello all,

I would like to post a screenshot of my OSCAR data to the main board, but on my laptop it kind of squishes some of the data labels together. Laptop resolution is 3840x2160. Attached is a screenshot. Any advice? Thanks!

New user. Seeing primarily Central Apneas
Hello all,

I received my CPAP on Wednesday. I have been having issues with falling asleep and large leaks but have seen consistent CA events each night. Actually, one night I slept maybe 20 minutes and it still recorded 53 CA's in 4 hours nearly all when I was awake. I do suffer from anxiety and find myself holding my breath all the time.

I am noticing I am seeing a lot of the central apneas as I am falling asleep and waking up. I can actually feel myself having one as I drift off to sleep.

Last night I had my lowest large leak level, so wanted to post a screenshot. I've been furiously reading about central apneas and am finding myself quite confused. The doctor did not mention anything about centrals, but looking at my titration study, most of my events were centrals and hypopneas. They did note that I held my breath when I was awake. The doctor said I performed well on the study with a continuous pressure of 11, but I haven't had great numbers since I've been home.

Sorry, for how the screenshot looks. I'm not sure why, but OSCAR on my laptop kind of squishes things together and some of the labels are hard to read. Please let me know if you need a different screenshot. Thank you.

Welcome to the board. I can not tell what you have your EPR set to... But EPR helps flush out CO2 and because of that people experience more centrals. I would turn off your EPR and see if that helps with the centrals. You also, as you said, have to keep working on the large leaks. If they are large enough to show up as a grayed out area on the chart, the cpap is not able to work. You can't get 0 leaks but you need to make it where there are no gray out areas.

Try turning off the EPR and post tomorrow and we will see if that help some. If you continue to have large amounts of centrals there is a cpap machine made for that but it is hard to get a Dr. to prescribe and more costly. Also some central are you just getting use to the therapy and will diminish as you get use to the therapy.

Thank you. Yeah, my EPR is at 3. I will shut it off tonight and see how it looks overnight.

HalfStep, you have a lot of CA events. Nothing obstructive. If you want to try improving on this, let's change settings:
Mode Autoset
Minimum Pressure: 8.0
Maximum Pressure 11.0
EPR: On
EPR setting Full Time 2.

I merged your two threads since I addressed you central apnea concern here.

Thanks Sleeprider for your setting recommendations. Last night's numbers have been the best AHI and large leaks since I started using the machine. The mask stayed on much better and felt much more comfortable.

The 30-ish minute period around 5:00AM with a lot of activity I was largely awake with occasional drifting off for a few moments. I could feel my breath stopping as I was transitioning from wake to sleep.

HalfStep  -  I hope you don't mind, but I changed your thread's title to, "HalfStep - Therapy Thread".    The new name seems to be more descriptive of your thread, anyway.   Shy
