RE: Hard to breath with CPAP and RSD(CRPS)
A step in the right direction. Anyone competent to look at your test and CPAP results should see what is going on. Hopefully anything else you discussed was equally well dealt with.

RE: Hard to breath with CPAP and RSD(CRPS)
My new doctor has contacted a Pulmonary doctor in Denver for me to go see so hopefully i will be getting on the right machine soon. Also I am on the BIPAP and the front of my mask where the hose connects has air coming out of the holes that are there. Is this normal? I am asking cause i do not remember my CPAP doing that.

RE: Hard to breath with CPAP and RSD(CRPS)
I finally had my visit to a Pulmonary specialist and it is confirmed that I do need a ASV unit..I am not sure how long that will take with insurance being the way they are, But the doctor said i was real bad off with both Central and obstructive apnea. Thank you for all the help to everyone.
RE: Hard to breath with CPAP and RSD(CRPS)
Hello again, I know this is such an old thread and I am sorry that i was not able to get with yall to finish up with this post. I have had a real hard last 5 years and have not had internet. For the last 4 years i have been on just Oxygen after the Bipap fail. In the 4 years i feel like i have done ok, I ussually have atleast 3-4 episodes a month where i wake up choking and takes anywhere from 20-45 seconds to start breathing again. These are real scary moments and i am glad that my wife is with me when they happen cause its hard to function when you cant breath. My depression has been on high level lately and for that I have had this choking episode happened 4 times in 8 days and I am really scared to try and go to sleep anymore.
Also i have a new family doctor and she is decent. My CRPS makes it hard to sleep but now i am just to where i do not want to try and fall to sleep just to wake up choking anymore. Anyways I made an appointment to my doctor and talked to her about it and showed her some of the forum post about how bad my central apnea was, and the hassle i went thru to try and get a ASV unit that i never got cause they just said hell with it and put me on 2lb oxygenand she said well lets just put in a request to get you a ASV unit amd see what happens.
my doctors appointment was on July 10th and the DME called me today on July 11th to say that he didnt have any ASV units in so he told me he ordered another one for me, I asked him if my insurance already approved it and he said that he doesnt order the ASV units unless he knows the insurance(Aetna/Medicare) will cover it. I guess these machines are easier to get now 4 years later, I hope he is right!
I have 2 question, will the ASV unit help stop with the waking up choking? It's been over 4 years since I wore a CPAP/BIPAP but wouldnt i need a titration test or some study done first before i can use the ASV unit?
I just want to thank everyone who was helping me so much with information and trying to get me on the right Pap that i needed. Thank you very much.
Thank you
Biggz

If the choking episodes are from Apnea, then yes it should help you.
The ASV is pretty easy to setup. It works with OSCAR as well, a free program that can be downloaded at the top of this page. It's the successor of sleepyhead.
Mask Primer
Positional Apnea
Attach OSCAR, etc.

Okay, thank you for the reply with that info SarcasticDave94.
RE: Hard to breath with CPAP and RSD(CRPS)
I have never been tested for nocturnal panic attacks(which i just found out about) but my central apnea was pretty bad and I live at a high altitude.
RE: Hard to breath with CPAP and RSD(CRPS)
I think you will find ASV can relieve most of your arousal issues other than those that may occur as you adapt to the changing pressure of the device. It will ensure any apnea, central or obstructive is resolved, and can maintain your normal breathing pace and volume. Most users here do very well with ASV when used for CSA and high altitude CA. I'll look forward to seeing some charts once you're setup with the new machine.

RE: Hard to breath with CPAP and RSD(CRPS)
thank you very much Sleeprider for the reply, Just wanted to say thank you to you and others for really helping me with my struggles when i was on the CPAP and Bipap just helping me with information was priceless so Thanks again.. Also i have not got ASV yet, so until it is in my room i am still not sure about getting it yet. Insurance makes it hard to get anything important for me. But if i do i will for sure post my stats.
