Or is there a secret way to add height to the collar? I just don't see how a 3" collar is going to keep my chin from dropping back.
Thanks!

Has anyone found a cervical collar 4" wide for a 12" neck? Help!
I've wasted hours looking for a collar the right width. If you know where to buy one, please just tell me. Even the 3 1/2" collars are for a neck far heftier than mine. Mine is 12".
Or is there a secret way to add height to the collar? I just don't see how a 3" collar is going to keep my chin from dropping back. Thanks!

I use Bell-Horn cervical collars. Their sizing chart is fairly wide, but not a small as 12" circumference. Their small is 14" -16". It is better to have an overlap than one too short to avoid the velcro on your neck. They come in 2" to 4" heights. I got mine through Amazon after finding them in a local old fashioned full service drug store.
I overlap mine several inches.

Thanks, Sidesleeper & Bonjour Fred,
I accidentally found another 4" option while trying to make sure the Bell-Horn one I was finding on amazon really was the 4" option. From your post, Fred, it looks like you can really overlap that thing. 10.5 - 24" neck circumference?! This is what I ordered, because it looks like firmer support than the Bell-Horn: Medibot Soft Foam Cervical Collar Neck Support Brace for Sleeping Neck Pain Relief Black M. For 13"-18" necks, so it's going to have to overlap. If it doesn't, I'll order the Bell-Horn, which does overlap.

picante,
You will want to wear the collar a little loose. The collar going down to 13 inchs may be just the size you want.

(01-05-2019, 08:12 PM)Crimson Nape Wrote: picante, Yeah, it's loose, but if I tighten it as much as it can possibly overlap, guess what -- lots of obstructive apneas, massive brain fog. I ditched it for a few days because of the variable effectiveness. Lots of times it just didn't stop my mouth opening. And I had plenty else to mess with equipment-wise: since last Friday I've been rolling out the oxygen tubing and hooking that in and double checking the oximeter before going to sleep. Yay, oxygen! So a few days to mull it over, along with the sudden revelation that I have laryngo-pharyngeal reflux, not gastro-esophageal. LPR, not GERD. LPR is a type of apnea and a type of reflux. My best friend has complete blockages during the day! She calls it 'vocal cord dysfunction", just another name for it. It mimics asthma, but asthma medication won't release the seized up larynx. Slowly it dawned on me: LPR means collar pressure on the larynx will create more constriction, if not outright obstruction. So loose is the ticket. Then there's my mouth opening despite the collar: it was happening when my head was not tilted down to make contact between my chin & the collar. OK, I'm starting to get this ... the collar is too short in front! Head tilting down gives me neck spasms to boot. Last night I put it back on around 2:00 am and stuck a wad of cloth at the bottom, where it hits my clavicle notch area. That worked. No open mouth, very little air swallowed. Let's hope I can repeat that success. Now, once I find reading glasses I can wear over my Airfit F20, I'll have DH take a picture with mask, oxygen tube tied to the hose, collar, glasses & book, tennis ball for muscle knots, my 4 pillows, and teddy bear. And the dog.

picante:
Maybe you could try rolling a small washcloth real thight (roll up to the missing height) attach ends & hold under the collar with rubber bands. Cela fonctionne por moi!
