RE: How often does the DME check on you after they get all their Data
My DME said, after 6 months...that because I've been fully compliant, that they don't have any interest in me anymore. If I need stuff, I call them. And, then after they billed for stuff I didn't have and messed up credits here and there. I stopped calling them for stuff....last year.
Then out of the blue, earlier this week..they called to say that my insurance says I can have more stuff and they can send me whatever. Which is interesting because I switched insurance at the start of the year. So, they should not know anything about it. And, I bought new machine and stuff last fall on my own dime....and have been buying stuff this way. Largely because my new insurance plan is lacking in its DME coverage.
Though I did find out that on August 1st the medical center that my primary is at has become part of Stormont-Vail (out of Topeka, KS)...while my DME across the parking lot is part of Via Christi (out of Wichita, KS). They're probably worried about losing customers. But, then they shouldn't have charged my insurance for a non-existent mask in early 2011, and not straighten it out so that I could actually get a mask until September (by then I had opted to getting my supplies, and new machine, from #1. Plus some stuff from #26 and #4.)
Haven't decided what I'm going to do about my primary...had been thinking of ditching (after a billing screw up earlier this year, they said the bill they hadn't run on March 1st yet was overdue and they sent it to collections on the Feb 29th.), maybe this is the kick to find a new doc. Plus I originally had an appointment on August 1st...which got canceled, because the doctor didn't come in...

You may be a dreamer, but I'm The Dreamer, the definite article you might say!
