RE: I can't sleep without using CPAP
If you still want to use cpap auto mode that's not a problem but keep your limits much narrower .
I doubt you need more than 12 Max.

I am attaching a screenshot of OSCAR from September 29th. I don't know if it has anything to do with it, but my blood pressure reached almost 18. I don't know if lowering it to 12 is a good thing, but I am ignorant on this subject. What do you think about this? Thank you very much!!

Trasto.
You might have some positional problems, like chin tucking which closes off airway in your throat etc. also I think you need to remove EPR ! You are going below your OA pressure point causing the obstructive events. I really do think with EPR being used, BEFORE you know pressure required to eliminate most OA events, is going to cause mis-understanding interpreting your charts. If you really feel you want auto, set the limits narrower, maybe 10cm min to 12 cm max.? with EPR=0

RE: I can't sleep without using CPAP
Trasto, the Aircurve 10/11 Vauto is an auto-titrating bilevel that works similarly to the Autoset. The big difference is that we refer to the difference between inhale (IPAP) and exhale (EPAP) pressure as "pressure support" (PS) rather than exhale pressure reduction (EPR). They are the same thing, but with the Autoset the PS is limited to 3-cm and with the Vauto it can be adjusted higher. In addition the Vauto gives us some adjustments for how much inspiration volume or effort it takes to trigger IPAP or cycle to EPAP, and there are other useful settings for time of inspiration if needed. The Vauto is the Autoset but greatly upgraded. It can be set to be exactly the same as your current Autoset, or you can leverage the settings to further refine your treatment to eliminate or mitigate flow limits and deal with other issues.

Hi, Sleeprider. I understand. I will try to purchase that device. Anything useful will be appreciated. I may ask you for help setting it up. I am attaching a screenshot of OSCAR from last night. Every night is completely different. I sleep with a soft collar and tape on my mouth. Thanks for your advice and information!

Trasto.
Yes every night is different, and one thing is the same, OA events and EPR . If you want to keep EPR, you will need to raise your minimum pressure much higher, possibly to 12 cm

It bothers me and makes my chest hurt. The EPR helps me a lot because it is becoming more difficult for me to breathe out (either I am getting older or my diaphragm is not working, but I have less and less strength to fight against the air from the CPAP). The initial ramp does not work for me because it seems that I cannot breathe either. In short, it is all "problems". I really appreciate your help and advice.

Trasto, your last chart looks good except for a couple clusters of OA. Since they are grouped, this wiki on positional apnea is required reading. https://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.ph...onal_Apnea

RE: I can't sleep without using CPAP
I used to be able to sleep without my machine, but not now. The night before last, I had to sleep without it due to an injury on my face. It was terrible. I think my body is so accustomed to good sleep that it seriously rebels when I'm not getting that. Last night I rigged something up to cover the injury and slept for more than 11 hours. I guess my body wanted to catch up. That's the downside to the successful use of a pap machine. Our bodies hate when we don't use them.

RE: I can't sleep without using CPAP
Timely discussion. I had to travel yesterday and packed my CPAP machine, and accessories except....the mask. Had to sleep last night without my CPAP, probably the first time in two years or more that has happened.
I thought I was going to die with the lack of a clear airway. Had the worst night of sleep, and to cap it off the hotel had the worst mattress. Finally got home today and took a long nap...oh my was it nice to have the CPAP. I felt a bit saddened that I now have to have what essentially is a ventilator to help me sleep and not choke to death at night. |
