Introducing the ResMed AirFit F40

By this, you mean the frame piece that holds the cushion, not the headgear? It will be interesting to find out whether it's actually different from what you got with the original mask set that had the large cushion.
I'm beginning to think that maybe the ResMed parts for the "frame" (not headgear) should always correspond to the cushion size, and the size options are really just the cushion/frame combo and the headgear (which is apparently called the "frame" on some supplier websites).
If you can actually use a different size frame than the cushion, in addition to a different size headgear, (for example, a medium cushion with a large frame and small headgear) then it's way too complicated for anyone to figure out when they don't offer a fit pack.

RE: Introducing the ResMed AirFit F40
I believe the F40 has 3 cushion sizes and 3 headgear sizes and 1 frame size that accepts any of the 3 cushions and headgears. When Resmed refers to headgear I think they are only referring to the straps and not the frame. At least that is the way it is for the Resmed F20 Airtouch I have been using until now. I will know Monday when my large cushion arrives and will post findings.

Very cool, hope to try this new mask, F20 works great but it's quite bulky.

Has anyone with the F40 also used an F&P Evora? If so would you please share your thoughts on the comparison?

RE: Introducing the ResMed AirFit F40
I think you are correct. I found the F40 "Combined Product Guide" on the ResMed site that lists the parts and parts numbers. They don't list the "frame" as a separate part, but in the illustration it doesn't show any sizes for it, like it does for the headgear and cushion. If I am interpreting it correctly, you can only buy the complete system (mask, frame, tube, and headgear) in the following combinations:

Sm/W cushion with STD headgear
M cushion with STD headgear
L cushion with STD headgear
M cushion with S headgear
M cushion with L headgear

If you want the small cushion with small or large headgear, or the large cushion with small or large headgear, you apparently have to purchase the frame system (cushion/frame/tube) and headgear separately. Or purchase the complete mask system which comes with STD headgear, and then purchase an additional headgear in the size you want.

RE: Introducing the ResMed AirFit F40
So, going back and reviewing the documentation, y'all were right and I was wrong.  It does appear as though it's one frame.  That's kind of too bad, as even with the large headgear, it still pulls up on my nose a bit.  I had hoped a larger frame would reduce that.  No luck.

Peaceloveandpizza, I used the F&P Evora FFM prior to switching to the F40.  I had the same issue with the Evora as the F40; the strap would pull up on my nose and by the end of the night it would be sore.  My DME gave me a large headgear for it, and that allowed me to drop the mask slightly eliminating the problem.

There are two main differences that I see between the two; First is that the Evora doesn't have the off-set plastic arms on the mask as the F40 does.  Those arms go a long way in making sure that upper strap stays low on your cheek and doesn't get too close to the eyes.

But probably most importantly, the F40 is significantly lighter than the Evora or any other FFM I've tried.  It's that lightness, coupled with a cushion that doesn't have any hard plastic to it, that makes the F40 much more comfortable than the Evora.

But, I do still like the Evora.  It's a good mask.

My Resmed F40 Package is Large Frame with Medium Cushion. This setup caused a nose irritation after 4 days. Oddly, Large Frame with Large Cushion is not an option. So I ordered a Large Cushion which fit perfectly in the frame and works great.

There’s a good comparison video that was posted in the past week on YouTube. Not sure if it’s okay to post the link here because they are also Canadian suppliers? It should come up in a search.

I have used the F40 for 3 nights. 2 of the nights I had some very large leaks that I  never had on the F30. I have to figure that our. I ordered the standard headgear which seems to run large because I  am near to the adjustment limit. As it streches I will be at the limit.

RE: Introducing the ResMed AirFit F40
I have the F40 for about a week now.  I usually wear the bleep dreamports but like to have a ffm to give myself a break from mouth taping.  Before the F40 I used the evora full will very good results.  The only thing I didn't like was the exhalation ports which expressed a lot of forcefull air over my pillow and covers.
I think the F40 is the best ffm I have tried and I have tried numerous ones.   It is so comfortable and when you tighten it correctly I get no leaks.  I printed out the size guide and I was definitely a medium.  As far as the headgear since I have an average head size I ordered the standard which is fine for me.  It is so much more comfortable that the F20 or F30 personally.  I especially like that there is no hard plastic since I am a side sleeper.
Would definitely recommend this mask.
