Is soft cervical collar safe to use?

Is soft cervical collar safe to use?
I normally use a chin strap but ive read that sometimes it can push the jaw back making things worse. So I've been looking into soft cervical collar but I was curious if there are some harmful effects from using it every night, especially to the neck.

Thank you

You don't wear the collar at its normal tension for therapy. You keep the collar just tight enough to prevent the chin from slipping below its top edge. Usually you can insert 2 or 3 fingers between it and your throat. It is more like wearing a pillow around your neck.

I have been using one for 8 years with no ill effects. Recently I upped my collar height to 4 inches which gave me much better control.
