Anyone else here from the UK?
NHS or private?
How long did you wait for NHS? What sort of service are you getting?
I'm on the NHS list but been told the wait is 9 months plus. (In wales too so its worse).
I paid for my own private home test to start with, then bought my own CPAP. Fortunately, I've got a private heath appt in a few weeks.
Trouble is they're only going to pay for 2 appts so ongoing theres nothing.
It seems here in the UK you get left you own devices a bit..... (as with everything)
RE: Anyone else here from the UK?
I am in the UK and your delay in being seen is probably down to the Philips Respironics recall of their machines which the NHS was rarther dependant upon and Philips not getting replacement machines delivered in the UK for nearly two years. The sleep centres have been buisy replacing recalled machines since early this year so they would probably still be strugling to see new patients supply while having to see existing patients and replace machines. Add to that strikes of nurses and doctors and you end up with this sort of mess. See the Philips Recall posts on here.
What form of apnea did your sleep report actually say? What machine did you buy - make and model? has it got data recording to a SD card? How did you make your choice on what to buy?
If it is an auto machine then the NHS would depending on what you need set it up with a pressure of 4 to 20 and send you away for a month to see where it tends to settle. This can lead to patients getting too little air initially and suffering to much pressure and disturbance due to effects of the pressure which may put you off using the machine long term
Now the good news depending on what machine you bought and its ability to record data, using Oscar to post the results then you will get all the help you need on this forum as you will see from other posts.
Hope you didn't buy Philips after their perfomance over the recall, I am afraid I would not even buy one of their light bulbs now. But if you did help is still here.

I've got a private appt in a few weeks so I'll see what they say.

Noted that the nhs tell you 4-20 for the pressure and then go away for a month..... Great....
I think, like you said, you'll get better advice on here.
