Large Leaks

RE: Large Leaks
I too am having large leaks. This happened a few months ago and things settled down. Now they are back and waking me up. Last night I shut the machine off; waited a little bit and turned on and the leaks happened immediately several times so that is frustrating. I've tried different masks(I use an airfit 20 touch). Different masks didn't help. I have tightened and loosened head gear and a friend who is sleep apnea savvy has helped me with looking at data, suggesting changes, etc. Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks

RE: Large Leaks
Attn Dave,
You said that transmission was via the SD card,
Are you saying if you remove the card, transmission can’t occur?

What I should have said was the data was obtained off the SD card by transfer of the data into OSCAR. Unless you have an old wireless SD card, like a Toshiba FlashAir, it must be a physical card reader pulling data from the SD and uploading it into a computer with OSCAR.

There are 2 separate methods of getting the data, and it's for 2 separate report tools.

1. OSCAR gets its info via the stored report on the SD card and it must be in the CPAP before you sleep or it gives summary data only.

2. The other method is for AirView, not involving the SD card. It used to be only via cellular transmissions. I suppose it still may be that way.

My stating the info earlier was in reference to UnicornRider saying medical uses OSCAR, then Opus1 asking about transmission of data, which has to be by way of copying or reading data in the SD.

RE: Large Leaks
Hi Dave,
What I was wondering is if the airview (transmitted to the provider and or Dr) is as complete as the data on the SD card.
More  specifically. can the doctor /provider read (from airview) what the pressure and leak rate is at any given instant during a sleep session?

In other words, does the cellular transmission contain all 4 EDF files (complete) for each sleep session?

( my impression is that, while the Resmed Airsense 11 may retain the summary data if the SD card is not installed, it does not retain the BRP or PLD files that would contain the second by second records)

Also, if you know, is there some schedule that is used when cellular is transmitting (for example after 12:00 noon local then the sessions for the preceding 24 hours expires)

RE: Large Leaks
I'm not sure if AirView has reports the same depth of data as Oscar, maybe. I've never seen one myself. Even if it does, my opinion is the doctor cherry picks what they want to justify treatment actions. But whether or not its good for the patient I'm not certain. I've seen tons of questionable therapy decisions by docs that opposed good therapy comfort and quality treatment.

Yes I recall something about ResMed data "calls" being on some schedule. I do know the ResMed day starts at noon.

RE: Large Leaks
Dave: I'm hoping that Dr's Airview is more detailed than this:

It would make no sense for me to ask him what was happening in my flow rate at 3:07: 05  on Nov 4, unless he can see the flow rate plot for that night.

RE: Large Leaks
It's up to you, but you could take sample OSCAR detailed nightly charts to point out concerns in therapy. Maybe doc won't look at them. I took mine to several sleep pulmonary docs and they weren't interested in seeing my data. They came across as predetermining I was doing well, despite not knowing how to treat my overlap syndrome emphysema COPD and Complex Apnea. So...Dave fired em. Still waiting on going to Johns Hopkins for separate sleep medicine and pulmonary disease appointments next year.

A sincere apology with a welcome to Apnea Board,

Your post got lost within this other thread. I'm going to ask moderator to move yours to your own post, best policy because it's a big folder of your therapy. Keeping things tidy and in one place.

For starters you can look at our wiki on masks, the mask primer linked HERE is great.

RE: Large Leaks
yep,
The DME- Respiratory  Therapist, as I mentioned before was not impressed with Oscar reports. In fact when I handed him a report he acted like I had just passed a venomous snake to him. Said he wouldn't rely on anything other than his Airview report.

Now, I,ve got a "strange" relationship with the sleep doctor, he is semi-retired and moved about 2,000 miles away when Covid started. But he still meets annually by zoom. So unless I mail the OSCAR reports to him (at his home-office) he can't see anything other than Airview.
That's why I wondering exactly what it is that he is seeing.

I sure hope that is more detailed than the therapy report that the DME handed me (images above).

RE: Large Leaks
Looks like it'll be something like this:

There's other pages within AirView PDF, this pertains to CPAP/APAP therapy.

There is this Detailed Report at the end. Sorta like OSCAR but not as good it seems.

Other sections are Home Sleep Study, Detailed Diagnostic Report, Compliance, and BPAP therapy.
