Oscar and SD cards for machine/user swap
What is the best way to handle two issues to keep the SD card data and Oscar data as streamlined as possible:
1) User 1 swapping from CPAP to BiPAP machine (both ResMed)
2) User 2 using the initial CPAP machine
I'm thinking User 1 gets a freshly wiped SD card to handle the different machine, but is a new Oscar profile also needed?
For User 2, does the machine and/or SD card need to be reset and will Oscar get confused importing from the same machine number to a User 2 profile? Should there ever be an import error from the CPAP into User 1's profile, there could be a mess of mixed data or is there a way to prevent this by machine serial number or something else?
Can User 1 and User 2 use the same O2 Ring sometimes without messing up the data as that is more manually imported?
Is a better way to manage this to copy the card data from each card to local storage and then point each Oscar profile to a different location?
RE: Oscar and SD cards for machine/user swap
CPAPs:
- User 1 may keep the same profile since you are staying within the same brand.
- If you are going to use your current User1 SD card in the new machine, erase all data on it, first.
- If User2 is getting your old CPAP with the current card in it, then it needs to be erased. Otherwise, User2 will have User's1 data included.
- Getting SD cards mixed up is a real concern. The only thing I can suggest it to clearly label each card with the machine type. I would also create separate dedicated directories on your PC for each data card. Copy the SD card to their respected directory, and then point OSCAR to the dedicated directory for each user. That way, each profile will have a unique path to reduce the possibility of cross importing data.
- Do not use cloud storage for either the OSCAR_Data directory or for your SD cards. OSCAR was not designed to accommodate any communication latency.
O2Ring - Since you are manually importing the binary files within the current user profile, the files can be maintained in the same directory. It probably would be better to separate each of the files into a dedicated user directory. As time goes by, you will forget which user recorded a particular day's data.

RE: Oscar and SD cards for machine/user swap
Does Oscar write any data to the local copy of the SD card?
Should I reset the ResMed machine between users to clear out the old user data that is stored internally?
For the 02 Ring data, are you suggesting copying the data from each day to a user specific folder and then importing that from there?
RE: Oscar and SD cards for machine/user swap
OSCAR does not write anything to the SD card. It only reads the data on it.
Yes, do a reset on the CPAP. Otherwise, the summary data from the previous user will be written to the SD card.
O2 data - Yes. Otherwise, a month or 2 from now, you won't remember who used the ring for that night. I'm on a Linux box as I write this and can not remember if you can set up different users in O2 Insight Pro.
