Mitral Regurgitation, Central Sleep Apnea.
Anyone successfully have mitral regurgitation remedied and alleviated their central sleep apnea? I had trace mitral reg a year ago, but after an ultrasound today it seems like its a little bit worse now than it was. I’ve been reading that fixing the leaky valve in your heart *will* remedy csa. I was just curious if there’s anyone here that’s had that. I always panic when it comes to heart stuff.

I'll be completely honest, I've never heard of it. During normal waking hours, I'll research on it for my own curiosity. I'll share whatsoever I learneth.

Re-upping this thread... I have been diagnosed with mostly CSA and had an echocardiogram. That test showed mild mitral valve and mild tricuspid valve regurgitation, along with mild-moderate pulmonary valve regurgitation. My PCP and pulmonologist are like, "no worries." Anyway, I did find some research suggesting a correlation between valve leakage and CSA's but no cause-effect finding.

RE: Mitral Regurgitation, Central Sleep Apnea.
Possibly a pattern here and possibly not. I have been diagnosed with very mild mitral valve prolapse (Cardiologist says most likely no surgery in the future to either repair or replace the valve in my situation. I have been diagnosed with central sleep apnea as well. Actually complex apnea (OSA + CSA + hypoventilation). Did the mitral valve cause CSA?
In my particular case, my Cardiologist doesn't think so. I would encourage you to do vast research on the subject from studies, different Cardiologist's opinions, and testimonials of others with a similar problem. I hope that you make the right decisions about his going forward into the future.
