How late is too late? I dont know how much will he benefit but would love to know the perspective of people who started very late in life on CPAP.
I'm planning for a home sleep test for him as well, pretty sure results will come out positive.

CPAP for my father?
I have recently started CPAP therapy, and feel my father has been suffering from OSA since a long time. He snores and often wakes up gasping for air. He will be 70yrs soon and I want to introduce him to CPAP therapy as well.
How late is too late? I dont know how much will he benefit but would love to know the perspective of people who started very late in life on CPAP. I'm planning for a home sleep test for him as well, pretty sure results will come out positive.

RE: CPAP for my father?
If he has sleep apnea he for sure can benefit and it could very well save his life. Once damage is done it generally can't be reversed. He can still prevent future damage without question. Therapy may be harder for an older person to adapt to "if" they feel it's too late for treatment or I'm too old for it to make any difference thinking.
So it's important if he has sleep apnea that he fully understands that it's not too late and could save his life and will extend it as well.

RE: CPAP for my father?
Well I won't be 70 until November, but as a younger man I can tell you it will be a game-changer! BTW, 70 is not that "late in life" unless you're untreated.
Try to get him the same machine you use. He is on Medicare, so best bet is to have him diagnosed by his regular physician who may order a diagnostic test. Medicare will pay 80% of costs for testing, device and equipment supplies. If he has a supplemental plan he may be covered to 100%. Best machine is probably the same one you have.

RE: CPAP for my father?
He may not like using the machine. Most people don't. So be prepared for that.
