Announcement re the Knightsbridge Dual Band chin strap
Hi folks,

The official Knightsbridge website is back up and running, and we have all the models in stock, including of course the Air Deluxe!  Importantly, please be sure to go to our website (we are Supplier #37 on the Suppliers List of Apnea Board) and not that of the counterfeiter (who may come up above us on a keyword search!).

With regards to the lawsuit against the counterfeiter (federal case no. 4:24-cv-05826-HSG), on December 5, 2024 I applied to the court for Entry of Default since, after multiple attempts to evade service of summons, including by filing fraudulent government documents, the US-based arm of the counterfeiting organization was served on November 1, 2024 and failed to appear in court as required by law by the deadline for response.  Please note that the counterfeiter altered the design of the Air Deluxe version in ways which harm its functionality.  If you inadvertently purchased an Air Deluxe from the counterfeiter and are having functionality issues, or if you have had quality control/sizing issues due to inadvertently purchasing a counterfeit, we have a Counterfeit Recovery Program page on our website to help with that.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Knightsbridge Dual Band ... Traditional chin straps are generally made of neoprene and wrap around the tip of the chin and the top, back of the head.  This geometry results in a force on the jaw directed almost directly into the jaw joint, which is actually the least effective and most uncomfortable angle to apply force for this purpose.  (This is similar to how you would never try to set and stabilize the position of a door by pushing from its outer edge directly towards the hinges.  But traditional chin straps are cheap to produce and people do buy them, hence they are marketed.)  In contrast, the Knightsbridge Dual Band lifts vertically from under the jaw, so it works with the natural rotation of the jaw, i.e., it is designed to work.  Plus, there are two bands, one elastic and one non-elastic, which allows the applied force to be minimized yet still effective.
(This is illustrated with drawings and a video on our website.)  So if you have needed something like a chin strap, and tried a traditional one and that didn't work for you, it might be worth your while to try the Knightsbridge.  As a number of people have posted here, it can be very effective in reducing mouth leaks with CPAP therapy.  (It does have a "full-cap" design, so it is warmer and more bulky than traditional chin straps, so to minimize heat retention we offer versions with a net-mesh cap and ear apertures.)

Thanks for your support!

Wishing you restful, restorative sleep,
Larry Shaw
