OSCAR does not import data - "failed to parse identification file"
#1
Question
OSCAR does not import data - "failed to parse identification file"
New OSCAR user.
macOS 14.6.1 on a MBP with an M2 Pro chip.
OSCAR 1.6.0 freshly downloaded and installed.
ResMed AirSense 10 with 64GB microSD card in full SD card adapter.
System information from OSCAR:

Quote:OSCAR 1.6.0+master-cb07f841 (darwin x86_64)
Built with Qt 5.15.2 on Dec 10 2024 12:47:13

Operating system: macOS 14.6
Graphics Engine: 2.1 Metal - 88.1
Graphics Engine type: OpenGL
Compiler: clang++:12.0.0 (clang-1200.0.32.29)

Data directory: /Users/<me>/Documents/OSCAR_Data

The first time I inserted the card in my AirSense 10, it showed a screen "Preparing SD Card..." and then worked normally. I recorded one night's worth of sleep data (I'm assuming).

I launched OSCAR and created a profile. The profile and data folders are set up correctly (using recommended Documents/OSCAR_Data folder).

I see the Welcome screen, I click on "CPAP Importer". It auto-detects the SD card with a message like:
Quote:A ResMed file structure was located at:

/Volumes/NO NAME

Would you like to import from this location?
This matches the location of my SD Card, it contains:

Quote:DATALOG/20241230/*.crc and *.edf files
SETTINGS/*.log and *.crc and *.tgt files
STR.edf
So I click the "Yes" button.

A small progress window flashes briefly (~1 second) with the text "Finishing up..." and then disappears.

I am left back at the Welcome screen with "Daily View", "Overview", and "Statistics" buttons still greyed out / not available. Like the import didn't actually import any data...

I opened the Debug pane (Help -> Troubleshooting -> Show Debug Pane) and it contained these lines:
Quote:526859: Debug:    Adding "NO NAME" on "/Volumes/NO NAME" to drivelist
526859: Debug:    Drive list size: 1
526865: Debug:    Found "ResMed" datacard at "/Volumes/NO NAME"
529927: Debug:    Starting ResmedLoader::Open( with  "/Volumes/NO NAME" )
529927: Debug:    Failed to parse Identification file
530253: Debug:    Finished Importing data -1

Any ideas what that failure means, and how I can overcome it to successfully import my data? Thanks for your help!

RE: OSCAR does not import data - "failed to parse identification file"
Hi thearrow3456! - Welcome
First, a Resmed 10 series is limited to a 32GB card size. It would appear that your Identification.tgt file may be corrupt. Try copying all the card's data to a dedicated directory on your PC, then take a smaller SD card and allow the A10 to prepare it. After the prep, copy this card's contents to your backup directory. Start OSCAR and see if it will import the data.

Thanks, Red! Fascinating - I couldn’t find anything about size limitations for the SD card in the Airsense 10 user manual, but I’ll order a smaller SD card and try what you suggested. I’ll report back in a few days with the results.

Sure enough - tried the same thing with a 16GB SD card and it imports with no issues! I can see a few nights worth of data. Thanks for the help!
