New CPAP, new thread

New CPAP, new thread
The long-running thread about my sleep PA and Medicare has
served its purpose. With my replacement A11, we can now
zero in on things other than the old broken machine that
can affect my sleep: mouth breathing, cervical collar, etc.
The graphs will now mean something. A new thread seems
appropriate.

Old thread is here:

RE: New CPAP, new thread
In my eagerness to see last night’s results in SleepyHead,
I forgot to flip the switch on the SD card. SH wouldn’t import
from the card, as stated in the massive CAUTION. Oops!

BTW, this is a new SD card. The old one went with the old
A10 in the exchange.

I can always reformat the card and begin importing
with tomorrow night’s data. No great loss.

Thanks,

Harv

Looking forward to see what your data looks like on the new machine. Does it feel like it operates differently to you?

Were they able to confirm something was wrong with the old machine as suspected?

It may run a little quieter.

They were pretty close-mouthed about it. At one point, three people were playing the
"pop the hose against your palm" game. Since they were opposite me at the desk,
I couldn't see what was happening. But it was pretty clear that large leaks weren't
being detected. I showed the graph to the first person I talked to. After a fairly
long look, it was ignored. I doubt they knew what they were seeing.

I asked what they thought was wrong. They said that ResMed would have to see.
I asked if ResMed would tell me, or them. They doubted it. A big runaround.

Well, it's true. AFAIK, there's no =bleep=ing way to reformat an
SD card on a Mac without adding a Master Boot Record. So until I can
use a neighbor's Windows machine, I'm stuck for recording.

A quick search using the term, "format SD card to Fat32 on a Mac", returned this, among other listings.

To Format SD card to FAT32 in Mac OS, follow below instructions:
  1. Connect the SD card to the Mac OS X computer.

  2.  Search for Disk Utility in Launchpad and open it.

  3.  Select the Drive and click Erase.

  4.  Enter the new name (OPTIONAL).

  5.  Select MS-DOS(FAT) for Format.

  6.  Select Master Boot Record for Scheme.

  7.  Click Erase. (Depending on the USB Drive size, the operation might take some time.)

Thanks, Red. I thought that the MBR was the problem on the Mac.

The A11 has an Erase Data option in the Clinical Menu!
It's the second to last entry, just above About.

Anyway, I'm back in business for tonight.

Best,

Harv

Fun with SD cards

Before going to bed last night, I erased the SD card on the A11.
In the morning, I slid the little tab to the LOCK position, and
fed it to SleepyHead. "Import problem. SleepyHead could not find..."
etc. I can see the data on the card. The A11 wrote it. So now we
have a new class of SD card: W/O -- Write Only.

BTW, last night's sleep was terrible. Back and forth to the bathroom.
My diuretic is working extremely well.

I'm stuck in the house waiting for a call back from the plumber.
It's 5:20 local time. So maybe 24/7 means something else. For
giggles, I decided to look on Amazon for a replacement.

SD cards are a jungle. There are cards rebranded with new labels.
There are huge capacity cards with two partitions, one at the advertised
size. There are two packs that contain one card. There are 2GB cards
that will accept only 1GB of data. The common threads throughout the
reviews (one star reviews are the best) are "DOA" or "died after
three months."

I will try to find a genuine branded card at the rated size at a
manufacturer's site, until I can shop locally, where things can
be more quickly exchanged or returned.   Oh-jeez

RE: New CPAP, new thread
As far as I know SleepyHead hasn't been touched in three years, so it can't possibly read the data from an AS11.

Download the latest version of OSCAR, which has been updated to handle AS11 data. There's a link in the black menu bar at the top of the page.

Until you can find a computer that works with Oscar, you can use the on-screen therapy reports. Hint: used Windows computers are cheap on Craigslist at easily under $200 for a Windows 10 with decent chipsets and memory.
