ResScan Installation Problem ver 5.9
I am having a a problem installing ResScan 5.9 to my Asus laptop. When I click on the setup button I get the error message, “Windows cannot complete the extraction. The destination file could not be created.” What do I do? Thanks for your help.

Okay! You’ve heard the saying even a blind hog finds an acorn once in awhile? Well I stumbled into a fix on my laptop.
When double clicking on the setuo menu item I got the above error message over and over. However, I noticed an “Extract All” button above the list of menu items and clicked on it. I extracted the files to the destination file of the same name. This time when I clicked on the setup button it began the installation process. I am almost finished installation now.

Yep, a lot of people make that mistake, given the way Windows displays compressed folders. You can "see" the files within a zipped folder, but in order to do anything, you must first uncompress (extract) the files contained in that folder. Then clicking on the install file in the resulting extracted folder will work.
I wish Microsoft would make it more apparent that you first need to extract the files. The way they display the contents of a zipped folder makes it look like a regular folder (but it's not-- it's compressed and needs to be extracted first). Glad you found the solution!
