Noisy Fans in New CPAPs

Noisy Fans in New CPAPs
If your cpap/apap/aircurve ResMed, or other cpaps are making a whirring noise, the frequency of which changes when you breathe in and out, you probably have a unit with a noisy, defective fan. ResMed says that SoClean and other "cleaners" using ozone, can cause the fan to be noisy. ResMed and other cpap manufactures probably recycle their cpaps, etc. after a month or two of use and reprogram them to show the hours of use are zero, in order to sell them as "new". If you get a "new" cpap, such as my ASV I received from Apria with zero hours of use, and it is noisy, take it back and insist on an exchange ASAP. I did, and got a truly new ASV with a totally quiet fan. There is a difference between the sound of air flowing into the intake of the cpap, and the fan making a whirring, changing frequency sound. Don't let your DME try to tell you the whirring sound of your cpap is normal. That was what they tried to do at first. You have to stick up for yourself and insist that the cpap/apap/bipap they're supplying you is silent, and that you can sleep well with it. That's the point, right?
