OSCAR not showing EPR setting

OSCAR not showing EPR setting
I use ResMed AirSense 11 Autoset and OSCAR on Mac OS v1.4.0.

I started using EPR recently (with CPAP @ 5 then APAP @ 7-9).

I noted this morning that OSCAR says that EPR is off for all the days I've used it.

Is that a bug with OSCAR?
Is it a bug w/ my CPAP?
Is it user error -- EPR doesn't work w/ the settings I tried to use?

Anyone have any insight?

Thanks

Can you attach a recent OSCAR showing this?

I'm looking at EPR in the Devices section on the Left Panel.

Thanks, just nice to have the visual. I'm not with the OSCAR team, but an observation is that I've seen others have EPR report off after user says they'd turn it on.

I've not had a ResMed machine for a bit. Does EPR require you to accept the setting or otherwise lock it in place?

RE: OSCAR not showing EPR setting
Your pressure listings indicate that you do not have EPR turned on.   By chance, did your doctor change your CPAP settings when you brought in your SD card for review? ResScan can add a setting adjustment file to your SD card, and will reset to those setting each time you start the machine.

Since you did not use the Fn+F12 key combo to take the screenshot, I don't know what version you are using.  Beginning with version 1.5, we switched to a secure website for downloads.  This stopped earlier versions from checking for updates.

RE: OSCAR not showing EPR setting
That's good to know. I did try to search the forum, but "OSCAR EPR off" is a bit too vague to find good results. I bet it's just a bug on the software side.

Do you happen to know if there's a way to see EPR functionality reflected in the data? For example, would I see 3cm fluctuations in my pressure with every breath? That way I could confirm with actual data.

As to your question, I double- and tripled-checked my CPAP this morning, and it does appear to be on. I even toggled it and changed some other settings to check. I don't think this is the problem.

Another thought. A Resmed records the machine settings the first time you use it for that day. If you change a parameter after the day's first use, it will not be reported until the next day. OSCAR only displays the data from the CPAP. Also, if it was a fault in OSCAR, everybody would be having that problem, and not just you.

RE: OSCAR not showing EPR setting
Great info, CrimsonNape. Thanks.

  1. I'm using Oscar 1.4.0. The site move explains one of the other mysteries I encountered about not auto-updating.
  2. I assume I can just install the latest dmg over the current version, and all my data will be retained. Right?
  3. I didn't know if other people were experiencing this problem. Given your response, it sounds like the forum would know if it were widespread.
  4. You say my pressure listings don't show EPR. What would I expect to see if EPR were actually on?
  5. Usually my doc uses the wireless service for data, but I may have brought the card in 1 or 2 times. It's possible it was set by her to disallow it, but I find it unlikely. If she disallowed EPR, I would think should we disallow other features like APAP. Besides, she knows I'm experimenting w/ EPR.
  6. If the machine always reverted to some default, I would *think* the settings would show that by showing the EPR option toggling back off or some other behavior after I changed it.
  7. You said that ResMed records settings only after the first use of the day. Is that calendar day or ResMed's noon-to-noon day? Also, I had EPR set for multiple days, and all the days were showing Off in the Devices panel.
Seems like the mystery deepens!

RE: OSCAR not showing EPR setting
** Solved **

Realized it was a combination of factors.

  1. In previous nights I had my pressure at 5 with EPR 3, which I now know is not possible on this device (the pressure is too low). So, despite EPR switched on, it wasn't doing anything.
  2. Something about the timing of when I changed the settings, it didn't show up for my previous night.
  3. I purged the day and re-imported, and it's now started showing up as EPR on.
  4. I also see how the Pressure graph has two lines representing IPAP and EPAP.
  5. I also updated the software. I hadn't realized I was a few versions behind b/c of a change in download servers.

Looks good!

Thank you to everyone who helped here and in another thread.
