Yes, I am happy about it.
I was expecting to have to push them/argue to do the repair, but I didn't have to. They just volunteered to do the repair for free. Good on them.
To be honest, given a number of facts, they would probably have to do the repair anyway or would need to refund any charges:
- UK/European Consumer Laws go beyond manufacturers warranty. The retailer (Resmed in this case) has to provide a product of quality, fit for purpose and expected to last (proportional to its price), regardless of the manufacturer warranty terms
- Resmed themselves state in their documentation that the machine has a design lifespan of 5 years. Therefore, any machine lasting less than 5 years would be considered to have a manufacturing defect
- Machine only had a small number of hours for its age
